A journalist friend of mine who's advising the Administration was planning to cancel a hot zone visit if she was going to get forced into an isolation ward.

This is going to be interesting, nurse-in-tent versus Governor-on-Bullshit-Mountain.

(96 posts)He didn't cave to science he caved to public opinion. There were several highly respectable highly knowledgeable people who agreed that the original automatic quarantine was a good idea. Now that its home quarantine my question is how will it be enforced and what will be done if the subject violates their quarantine?

(25,183 posts)and tell your journalist friend to stay home. We already know that West Africa is a lousy place to be.
I'm still pissed off at "Doctor" Nancy Snyderman, whose crew member got sick, and she went out for her soup run.

(25,183 posts)We don't need unnecessary trips to West Africa from Americans. We already have more than enough troops going there to build Ebola treatment centers, and we have plenty of doctors and nurses volunteering to go there to actually do something besides talk on a TV screen, or write in a newspaper or magazine.
Tell your friend not to be a 'hero', we have enough real ones heading in that direction.
