Source: Denver Post
Campaign fliers for three Republican state Senate candidates improperly used the logo of Jefferson County Public Schools, lifted and then doctored a photo from social media and for good measure misrepresented facts.
Our partners at 7News have the story of Jeffco school district lawyers sending cease-and-desist letters this week to the three ideologically aligned candidates: Tim Neville, Tony Sanchez and Laura Woods.
... I Want My Future Back! one sign on the flier says. FUTURE, reads another. Only the students protesting were holding signs that said something else. Below is the original photo. ... But one thing that is clear is students took to the streets because they are unhappy with a school board controlled by three Republicans who won office in 2013.
... The Denver Post on late Friday afternoon also sent letters to the three candidates requesting that the campaigns immediately cease and desist use of the image. From the text of the newspapers letters: Not only does the use of the photograph infringe copyright interests, it violates other intellectual property laws by unlawfully associating The Denver Post with your campaign. It also violates basic transparency principles by altering a photograph without informing the readers. Finally, it offends the Fair Use policies in place by Twitter and creates an actionable claim by the person pictured in the photograph holding the sign.

(81,267 posts)They're all about putting their thumb on the scale any way they can to make sure they win. Funny, one would think merely being confident of the positions one takes - would be enough to win majorities of votes on an even playing field. Clearly they feel that their views aren't enough to do it. So they have to cheat.
What does THAT tell you about the GOP? Just in and of itself? The only way you can see clear to win - is if you cheat.

(10,252 posts)they are so arrogant about the "rightness" of their positions that the end justifies the means. Afterall God is on their side, so who can stand against them? The quicker they get into power by any means, the better it will be when Jesus comes back, so they can reign and rule with Jesus. Then there's the RWers, who flip their positions whenever it's convenient to help get to power faster, ala Mr. Flip-flop, Mitt Romney. I don't know which is worse, the lieing flip-floppers or the Christian domionists. Both are exceedingly neurotic.

(81,267 posts)I don't know which is worse, either, vlyons. And you make a really good point about the pathology at work here. I think it's also arrogance - because they do think God is on their side.
I still remember vividly - watching that pea-brain james watt (a vulture capitalist marauder whom the lovely ronald reagan appointed as INTERIOR SECRETARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!). He repeatedly made speeches advocating opening every square inch of our precious wilderness areas and public lands and national parks and preserves - to "ALLLLLLLL The People." And that's how he'd say it, too. It sure sounded niiiiiice. And everybody fell for it and rolled over and went back to sleep because they misinterpreted his intentions. What he REALLY meant was - those select "people" who had VERY RIGHTFULLY been shut out of that treasury of precious open unspoiled undeveloped lands - the developers, the oil drillers, the lumber industry, the strip-miners, the nice folks who blow the tops off mountains, all those nice "people." The CORPORATE "people," that is. HORRIFYING that our natural birthright was put in this fucking pirate's hands. HORRIFYING!!!!!
And then I watched a Congressional hearing at which he testified. I don't remember what the subject was, but he sat there, answering questions, and at one point he actually looked up at them with BIG, wide, round paul-ryan-type "innocent" eyes and said "when the last tree is felled, Jesus will come back!" I about shat. I didn't sleep that night. I was HORRIFIED!!!! As a lifelong Catholic, I was taught that no man (or woman) may know the hour, no man (or woman) can force the Hand of God. Their arrogance and presumptions in this regard made me want to run and hide somewhere!
These assholes think they can use, misuse, and abuse - and utterly RUIN - our precious and finite and irreplaceable natural resources because Jesus is gonna come back and wave His magic wand and fix everything that's broken and wrecked and trashed, and make everything all healed and whole and good again - like some Heavenly Cleaning Man or something who arrives to pick up after their mess. So therefore they figure - who gives a fuck about what we do and how much we pollute and how much we recklessly run through? Jesus is coming back and he'll fix it all! After all, didn't God give Adam dominion over all things and all beasts, so he could do whatever he wanted with them? So c'mon, everybody, let's GET IT ON!!!!! SMASH 'N' GRAB!!!!! Let's PAR-TAY!!!!! USA! USA! USA!
That attitude is just utterly sinful and criminal, if you ask me. And that bastard ronald reagan saw fit to put THAT attitude in charge of the INTERIOR DEPARTMENT!!!!!!!! Just one of about a hundred-thousand reasons why I still burn with hatred toward ronald reagan. Seriously, I can't think of a single good thing he actually did - except die and rid all of us of his hideous, rotting, utterly myopic, selfishness-on-parade world view. The only good thing about ronald reagan is that he's dead. Unfortunately, and I'd even say TRAGICALLY, the "legacy" that bastard left behind, like so many chemical spills into our previously-pristine waters or the smogging of our previously clear blue skies, still lives on.
