Where can you sign up for right-wing emails?

I have a new project here at work: I am supposed to read all the letters to the editor before we print them to ensure we aren't running right-wing chain emails as "original" letters to the editor.

The problem with that is, I don't get any right-wing chain emails. While this has certain advantages, including not coming down with a stroke from reading that crap, it's hard to pick out the wingnut email forwards if you don't get them yourself.

So...what I plan to do is to open a fresh free-mail account, subscribe to some of those services (WorldNutDaily and Newsmax probably have email alerts, right?) and go to work. But...besides WND (which is one letter away from WMD for a reason) and Newsmax, what else is good?

Just Google any combination of the words "Obama" and "Muslim", "Kenya", "dictator", or "Alinsky"

They'll find you.

We have been getting emails from readers telling us some of our LTTEs are actually RW email forwards that people have signed and sent in. The boss wants it to stop, so we're going to at least try to make it stop.

anything Repuke you find online. Make up some right wing sounding letters and post them around with your e-mail. Within some time, they'll each have spread your name around as a potential Repuke sheep, and you'll start getting right wing chain e-mails.

Of course, if you do all that, you'll be overcome with the desire to shower every time you get online.

That's what happened to me a few years ago. I had to get out of it all. It was making me nauseous.

(e.g., http://snopes.com/politics/obama/obama.asp)

Instead of sifting through a mountain of radioactive waste, it might be easier to cut 'n paste a sentence from each LTTE into Google, which will bring you to Snopes or another meta- oriented site if the source is viral propaganda. For instance, if you Google "Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim" (including the quotation marks), the first page of results will bring you to urbanlegends.about.com, snopes, factcheck.org, etc.

I got on several when I voted in the 2000 Republican primary (unfortunately Bush still won in spite of my efforts) but to get these crazy chain letters you're talking about... I think you need some right wing friends for that. Try Yahoo- there must be a right wing crazy news group there somewhere.

Names please. Um hmm. Got it. Addresses? Okay. The RW patrol will be right over to castigate them for not flooding your inbox with irrational hate on a daily basis, no matter how stupid it makes them look.

That's been a problem this year - RWers being too embarrassed to carry out their duty to look like absolute idiots and forward even the most obviously ridiculous garbage to you, the well educated Democratic voter.

I'll forward the info to my teabagger sister. She will be happy to take care of this problem immediately. No embarrassment for her. Nope. Unh uh.

That is the only way to get the real email chain itself. Someone who has you on your list (RWers tend to have long lists of recipients, and send out to everyone all the nice pictures and cute jokes they see, so you have all that to contend with too, but eventually they will send on the right wing emails too).

I get them from one relative. I'm tempted to get your address there and forward them to you if I can remember.

People post those things to RW message boards and other newspaper LthE, so if you get exact matches, voila! Beats reading through a mountain of crap.

Sometimes you can not only find if it's a message making the rounds, you can trace its origins. A relative had included me in a forwarding of one decrying Obama appointing a couple of "devout muslims" to DHS, and I managed to trace it back the blogs where it originated, with material being removed and comments added as it got reposted over numerous RW message boards and e-mails. Most of the peole posting it didn't mention they'd got it from elsewhere.

That's more involved than what your job calls for, unless you want to make a story out of tracing one.

That would work.

Though if the OP wants to get a general feel for what right wingers are onto, getting the emails from a relative / friend gives a big picture about what RWers are het up about in any given time period.

My right wing relative is always up on the persecution of Christians. You know, how the government fails to enforce their right to make everyone else follow their religion.
