Zimmerman claims Martin jumped him, broke his nose and pounded his head into the ground inside a gated community in Sanford, Florida. He then fired one shot, hitting Martin in the chest because he feared for his life.
In a newly published report by Reuters, Zimmerman's next-door neighbor Jorge Rodriguez said that when he saw Zimmerman the day after the incident, "he had two big, butterfly bandages on the back of his head, and another big bandage...on the bridge of his nose," while he was talking to a police detective in his driveway. Rodriguez's wife Audria also said she saw the bandages and a third neighbor, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, said, "I saw two bandages on the back of his head, and his nose was all swollen-up."
The new accounts by Zimmerman's neighbors give support to his claims that he acted in self-defense. The extent of Zimmerman's injuries will now be critical to his defense under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense law. It allows the use of deadly force when someone has the reasonable belief he could face death.

(5,637 posts)didn't bother to track down any medical reports. Or I should say attempt to track them down; I would bet $100 there aren't any.

(6,086 posts)photos and records to prove their point, at least were it applies to having actual injuries.

(9,397 posts)cronkite you would think that would be the first thing they do. since when did a neighbor's statement become good enough to report without any facts to back it up.

(4,493 posts)Now days it's all about sensationalism. How fast can they get a headline that will grap people's attention. The body of the article is irrelevant to them.

(7,776 posts)it would be illegal and unethical for any hospital/attending physician to even let reporters view them.
If any records were leaked... CBS would be in deep shit for releasing them.

(16,230 posts)Even if Trayvon was fighting him, Trayvon was simply standing his ground, as the law allows.

(16,230 posts)Surely Zimmerman would allow them to be released if they backup his version of events.

(8,317 posts)His neighbors probably aren't lying. Zimmerman probably put them on and then walked around so people would see him.
He would have also had blood everywhere in the police video.

(4,982 posts)not even an untucked shirt == no injuries, IMO. Somebody is lying their ass off. And I don't think it's the police video we saw.

(30,439 posts)not the court of public opinion. When it comes to those "injuries", he better have hospital records or EMS records indicating a broken nose and significant injuries. My hunch is that those records don't exist.
What idiots like Joe Oliver, Zimmy's dad or Zimmy's friends think is irrelevant.
This is now in the court of law.

Wonder what we are being sold here.
Dam I can't wait for the movie.
Don't know how to embed videos but I think this is the one to use whenever you talk about video enhancement.

This raises some serious questions about the credibility of the neighbor and about the MSM who are desperately trying to make this go away without Zimmerman actually having to "go away."

(2,354 posts)left the police station. People do stuff like this all the time - for insurance fraud, to concoct a better story for themselves to get out of punishment for a crime, etc. People have falsified a ton of things since the start of time in order to get themselves out of a jam.
I saw the video at the police station, and it was a big old zero on the injury scale. So if it wasn't until the next day that he had bandages AND a swollen nose, then he had someone (a friend, or probably his dad) pop him a few times that first night, in order to make it appear as though he was attacked by poor Trayvon. A guy like Zimmerman probably thought the pain was worth the price if it can help him avoid a long prison term.
Heck, I've read about guys who've cut off a hand or foot for less of a reason (insurance fraud). So it is plausible in my mind.
