I watched her transformation during the 2008 campaign on MSNBC. She was uncomfortable about the racism directed at Obama by media, and McCain supporters. Saw her morph from supporting McCain to praising Obama. Opportunist - maybe. Reality - there's no place for her as an African American or a woman in the republican party. Wake up people!!!! It's a party for rich white people, and homophobes, racist and sexist that don't care that the conservatives are screwing them in the wallet.

Yes, I think you are right. When I listen closely to her I feel that she hearts Obama a lot and has to find a way of saying without looking "sappy." Plus, the repub War on Women had to make a big impression on her in a major negative way.
