We now have a constitutional amendment that will allow prior bad acts to be considered during trials. The language suggests that it will only apply to sexual abuse of children, but I think it's a very ugly slippery slope. So scary!!

(13,390 posts)I think Kennedy could be counted on to rule against it. But, there are all kinds of ugly scenarios that I could dream up. If a few idiots in MO unleashing this across the nation I will blame one guy.
During a forum where people presented their positions on the amendments a guy used the phrase "a woman scorned" to cite an example of what could go wrong.

If passed, the measure would allow relevant evidence of prior criminal acts, also known as propensity evidence, to be admissible in court in prosecutions of sexual crimes involving a victim under 18 years old.
