Anyone know (or even remember) what happened the following year and the few years after that??
Odds on history repeating itself??

I think the better analogy is 1994. The GOPers, led by Newt Gingrich, took control; predictably overreached, and crashed and burned a few years later. We all remember what happened to Newt; let's hope Ted Cruz shares the same fate.

It just depends on how far they will go to try and force their failed ideology on everyone else. Historically speaking, they are quite willing to burn the country to the ground just to prove that "liberal" policies hurt the country. I'm not sure how that works logically, but the media seems more than happy enough to give them more than enough rope to hang us all.
