I don't really know what else to say now.
The rethugs and their message of hatred, racism, bigotry, homophobia, sexism, and xenophobia win big. Voldemort and Blondie get re-elected in Florida.
I'm trying to look for a positive here, but I just can't see it.
Fuck.

(16,286 posts)as long as who they vote for hates Black people and Gays, is all this is about.
They cant admit they are and have been wrong all these years therefore they cant ever vote in their own best interest.
They cant and they wont.
But there are more of us than them, the question is how do we get people out to vote, do they have to suffer first?

(10,340 posts)For rethugs, every vote cast against a (D) was a vote against the black man in the White House.

(9,839 posts)NC are both red areas. I don't think moving is the solution. At some point, people are going to wake up and realize they're being fed a load of shit. John Lewis, one of the brightest lights in Georgia and Washington, said it best: "You cannot become bitter or hostile. You have to keep the faith and keep your eyes on the prize. This is not a struggle of a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime." He has seen a lot since he marched with Dr. King.

(28,581 posts)I at least had positive news in Providence Rhode Island. But was left shaking my head at the national level. It's out of our hands really, for now. It's up to harry reid and Obama to stop the crazies and their ideas. Lets hope they have a big enough spine.

(45,251 posts)Increase in minimum wage and sick time ballot initiatives did well.
Democrats won a healthy number of gubernatorial races.
In my state (Massachusetts), Markey was reelected, as were all the Democratic reps. Tierney's seat got filled by the Democrat who primaried him and not by the Republican candidate (polls looked risky for a bit.)
Democrats have the same ability to use cloture as Republicans and, at this point, they just might.
My personal favorite: I am relatively certain that President Scott Brown Koch is no longer a possibility.
Look around the board because other posters have been a lot more complete and a lot less parochial than I've been in listing positives.

Look around the board for more encouragement because other posters have been a lot more complete and a lot less parochial than I've been in listing positives. But, yes, despite the positives, we all feel your our the nation's pain.

I have wanted to do that for so long but up in moist Washington state, keeping moisture out of the wood is a challenge.

(6,323 posts)I'm trying to find the best approach or jig that facilitates compound necks like Jacksons. All I see are builders with oscillating spindle sanders free handing the back of the neck. You wouldn't happen to know a source would you? Sorry I'm asking, I just thought you were here and maybe you might know. If not no biggie, we're on the same side either way brother.

(6,323 posts)It also sounds like seats occupied with 3rd way Democrats that were up for election lost. I say good riddance. The 3rd way should just go join the Republicans instead of trying to control the dialogue for a liberal Democratic party.
The initial threads this morning did not support entertaining the 3rd way any more. We tolerated it now we want it gone. And I says hells yea!

(18,672 posts)I've seen more ugly, racist language in the comments sections today than I've ever seen, and that is saying something. Outright racist slurs of the kind I hadn't heard since I was 3, and I'm up there now. It's pretty disconcerting. The Koch minions are feeling pretty confident today and are proudly and loudly displaying their inner ugliness. And to think I've only looked at 3 comments sections under articles today. That was quite enough.

(14,587 posts)Even more sadly, the American people were stupid enough to vote against their own interest without any effort to find out what the truth beyond the attack ads actually was.
I was watching Bill Maher the other week, and he had this Gen Y person on from Harvard who had organized a divestiture campaign to force Harvard's trust fund to get rid of oil and gas stock. She had such a cavalier attitude toward voting; she was so into her activism that she lost sight of our basic franchise. She also spoke of how many in her generation are 'turned off' to voting because they think their votes are meaningless.
So, now millions of Gen Y people, as well as all those who aren't bazillionaires who voted Republican, will have the kind of government an apathetic, politically lazy, purposely ignorant people deserves. It is tragic that we few who have done the digging and voted in our own best interests will be victimized right along with them.
