Yeah. And they said nothing violent, they just criticized war. Where is that GOP now that Nugent has made death threats to the Pres.?

and the same place they were when their teabagging idol Beck went to Israel to criticize the commander in chief on foreign soil.

(15,960 posts)Some other differences; Memory Lane:
Maines issued an apology on March 14: "As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect. We are currently in Europe and witnessing a huge anti-American sentiment as a result of the perceived rush to war. While war may remain a viable option, as a mother, I just want to see every possible alternative exhausted before children and American soldiers' lives are lost. I love my country. I am a proud American."
President Bush responded to the controversy in an interview with Tom Brokaw on April 24:
"The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say ... they shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out ... Freedom is a two-way street ... I don't really care what the Dixie Chicks said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some singers or Hollywood stars feel like speaking out, that's fine. That's the great thing about America. It stands in stark contrast to Iraq ..."
You will NEVER see or hear anyone on the "right" issue a sincere apology. EVER / NEVER

(3,233 posts)glad that Bush wasn't from Texas. For that, she must apologize?
She didn't say much, did she?

(15,960 posts)Again the double standard in which they live.
Just like the big poutrage that they got over Hillary Rosen's comment about Ann Rmoney never working a day in her life. Oh my God, release the hounds. Hillary apologized for nothing as far as I'm concerned. Ann has never had to work a day in her life. Perhaps if she did she would realize that it isn't easy, but being in her position she still would have had it "maid-made" because she would come home to a cooked meal and someone to take care of the house.
They have thin skin when it suits them, and as we used to say as a kid "they can dish it out but they can't take it!"

(9,796 posts)That's the GOP's method through-and-through: No criticism for the other guy, no restraints for them.

(2,431 posts)...Nugent is a washed-up, never-was-good-to-begin-with, pentatonic-scale-limited hack who can only stand to gain in this climate.
