British park bans unaccompanied men and women because they might be pedophiles

Source: The Independent

A man has been barred from entering a park because of a policy banning single men or women without children from visiting the attraction in case they are paedophiles.

Matthew Richards travelled 25 miles to see a falconry display at Puxton Park, near Weston-super-Mare, but was unable to view the show because of the rule, which is enforced supposedly to protect children.

... The ban on unaccompanied men or women in the park has apparently been in place for the past seven years and while it can be found on the park’s website it is not prominently displayed.

It is at the bottom of the prices section and is especially puzzling as the park also offers single adult membership passes.

...is taken to the extreme. I don't know about Britain, but as I recall, most cases of pedophilia in the US are committed by family members and friends of the family, and many are married, so a ban like this barely addresses the issue.

Two Women Ticketed For Eating Doughnuts In A Brooklyn Playground
The police may not be ticketing for smoking in the parks, but they are still ticketing parker visitors for crimes like...eating a doughnut in a playground. Yup, this weekend the police gave two young women in Bed-Stuy summonses for eating doughnuts in a playground while unaccompanied by a minor.

Tickets for being an adult in or around a playground have been popping up fairly frequently lately—see the Inwood chess players—but instead of giving the offending citizens a warning and urging them to leave, the NYPD's M.O. appears to be to hand out a ticket.

Apparently the village is only made up of parents and children.
