After WWII Big Business was looking forward to the returning vets as a cheap, plentiful, able bodied, workforce. The GI Bill ruined that for them. Vietnam gave them their chance. The myth of the crazed Vietnam Vet with flashbacks that they were back in the jungle saw to it none of them would make it into management. The WWII Vets didn't help them out either. As far as they were concerned the Vietnam Vets were a bunch of losers. Think about it. In WWII they fought against REAL armies that had planes and tanks and warships and won. Vietnam Vets fought against a bunch of guys in black pajamas and lost.

Add to that the idea that Vietnam Vets were lazy and into drugs and it created a bunch of people that nobody wanted to hire leaving them homeless.

Nowadays they want to "Thank you for your Service",,, geeez it seems like only yesterday they were calling me a "Baby Killer" and everything else but a "Child of God". That puzzled look they give you after you tell to "Go to Hell" is reward enough!
