Nixon, the Right Wing and "Ratfucking"

While reading the latest bogus story from Breitbart and their incredibly cynical "correction", I was reminded of this scene from All the President's Men-

The absolute disregard for the integrity of the electoral process seems to be a hallmark of this Republican Party. Whether it is vote suppression, election buying, brazen gerrymandering or just plain dirty tricks from James O'Keefe, it is clear that the GOP will do anything to hold on to power.
Democrats seem to believe that we are competing with a group that is as dedicated to democratic principles as we are. Nothing could be further from the truth and the sooner we recognize this, the better chance we will have.

You could very well be right. When informed of their error, they kept the story up for hours with only an update at the bottom of the page. They achieved their goal of injecting bile into the political system and they couldn't have cared less if it were true.

And there is no doubt that their idea of what constitutes a successful "democracy" goes only so far as what and who their money and lies will buy them.
