California man blames Obama after running over, killing black man with his pickup

A whole lot of ugly nasty people feel real entitled now. How do we purge this kind of hatred from the nation?

Article from US News

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/11/california-man-blames-obama-after-running-over-killing-black-man-with-his-pickup/

A California man claims he was defending himself last year when he ran over black man, killing him, following an altercation outside McDonalds.

Joseph Paul Leonard Jr. burned rubber for 23 feet before crashing into 34-year-old Toussaint Harrison during the June 6, 2013, incident, reported the Sacramento Bee.

Leonard, now 62, got out of his pickup and kicked Harrison several times in the head with his steel-toed work boots, authorities said.

“Just because we got Obama for a president, these people think they are real special,” Leonard said after his arrest.

Considering the self-segregation problem where California's prison system has well documented issues with that.

I'm not saying the opportunity for him to be a victim of violence doesn't exist, far from it. Just saying he'd unlikely be alone with that attitude.

my heart just practically stops every morning when my husband leaves for the day and we live in an area with relatively little violence. I also have two generations of nephews now who are old enough to be out and about. My one niece has a biracial child and was accosted recently while grocery shopping by some woman who berated her for having that wee baby girl, who was only six weeks old at the time. Then there are my children who are half-Iranian and the worries that come with a whole slough of other prejudices. It just makes you ache.

I know there are many who bear the same heartache, some have borne more. I find little reason to forgive the "leaders" in this nation and the media types who fan the flames of hatred.

Peace to you, my friend.

make the President feel? It makes me weep for him. He was elected by a majority, just like every other president (well, we aren't certain about GW Bush) before him. How many others have had to endure the insults, racism, daily slings & arrows? And those are from the ignoramuses in the GOP and the general public. How much has he had to face from members of his own party--people who voted for him in 2004 and 2008? Can you imagine what we could all be celebrating if everyone got behind this man?

When I say varying degrees, there is this man, there is a bunch of old white men in Congress who will do anything to ruin his legacy and make him fail, all the way down to the guy or gal who never says shit (except in certain company) yet pulls that lever for a teabagger.

But make no mistake, every single one of them have this syndrome to some degree.

Crackhead steals food from breakfast buffet at local hotel. He and his buddy try to raise some cash by hawking the food to folk leaving a nearby McD's. They encounter a racist Vietnam vet with PTSD who's off his meds. He stomps the bicycle owned by one of the guys. There's an altercation. He goes after them with a chain. They defend themselves with a knife and a broken bottle. The vet gets cut. He decides he's losing the fight and takes off in his truck. Then he comes back, runs one guy down, jumps out of the truck, and starts kicking the guy on the ground in the head. McD's employee comes outside with a crowbar to stop him and takes the keys from his truck so he can't escape before the police come. One guy flees the scene. Vet makes asinine comments while sitting cuffed in the patrol car. Attempted murder charges are filed but the downed guy dies soon after so the charges are upgraded to murder. Dead guy has crackpipe in his backpack and tox-screens show drug residues in his system. When the dead guy's buddy is finally located, he says they were just handing out food to the homeless.

Whether the two guys stole food from the hotel is almost certainly irrelevant. That the vet drove away and then returned to run the guy over and kick him in the head shows it wasn't self-defense and probably establishes premeditation

was the 'vet' off his meds. The defense said the murdered man was a crackhead? Speaks for itself since we all know because the victim was black he had to be a thief and a crackhead. Just because the defense attorney has started the spin, does not make it truth.

in his system. I think that is irrelevant to the question of premeditation since the alleged killer is said to have driven away, returned, ran the victim down, and then kicked the victim several times in the head while he lay on the ground, which I think might establish premeditation. It is nevertheless possible that the alleged killer was of diminished capacity due to PTSD and being off-medication. The actual initial encounter then, independent of the question of premeditation, might be of psychiatric relevance, apart from the reported racist remarks; and the jury in trying to sort out the facts might therefore be allowed to consider whether the victim was in fact a drug-addict hawking stolen food in a McD parking lot to get money for a fix, as this might shed light on the alleged killer's state of mind and reactions

Conservatives like Leonard live their lives in a round room, being told to sit in a corner. They *are* victimized, but all of their conceptual framework for trying to make sense of the world is fed to them by the plutocrats who are actually victimizing them.

So it's not a huge surprise when some of them just snap and lash out at poor people and/or minorities. Because that's who they've been programmed to blame.

We did get him, in terms of two elections where his character and smarts beat the shit out of weak-ass white dudes with much less appeal to the population as a whole. That's what the backward thinking dumb asses just don't get. And yes, he is the special one. He made it as a black man in a white world. He made it into an Ivy League university and was accepted to Harvard Law, when he was a nobody, and made something of himself. He edited the Harvard Law Review. And if you think that's easy have one of your moronic offspring try it. But you see there are lots and lots of black people out there who are special, and asians, and Mexicans, and little green men from Mars, to quote Lacy J. A lot more special than a white man who in a bigoted rage runs a man of color down with a truck. Bigotry and cowardice all in one package. One more and he gets the trifecta. Oh wait, he eats a McDonald. That's the golden trifecta. God, we live in the stupidest country on the face of the planet. SAPOI
