Facebook has moved part of their corporation to Altoona, IA, and the local news channel

was just reporting on this. Apparently one of the reasons Iowa was selected was because of its commitment to renewable energy sources. Wonder if the Koch brothers know that.

I can't imagine Iowa is all that serious when they elect a loon.

They probably based that on Iowans' love for methanol.

As for Ernst? I'll always be suspicious of that win. I have a feeling Ernst followers will learn they made a monumental mistake, but they'll never admit it. She is a Palin/Bachmann clone. God help us!

years. I have a feeling that they are grooming her for the VP slot in 2016. She's slicker than Palin. Doesn't drool and she can make biscuits.

I am sure the allure of Iowa is such a draw that a company based in California with mostly younger hip workers would now decided to set up shop in Altoona is the real reason for the relo.

At least they kept it in America.

The project will mean money and jobs for Iowa families. The deal is expected to grow to $1 billion over six years, pouring about $450 million into high-tech and construction salaries. It will mean at least 31 high-tech jobs paying a minimum of $41,800 annually, and will create up to 2,500 construction jobs.

I don't know what salaries are in CA but $41K is a good starting point here and construction is hard labor but pays well. The cost of living here is much lower than California.

For a High Tech Jobs you will also need people with years of experience, Masters and PhD’s and 41K would be an insulting wage to offer highly skilled and educated people for a high tech job.

If 41K is what they will pay for tech labor, I don't even want to think about how low they will go for construction labor.

In the big picture, corporations off shore millions of good jobs, US unemployment goes up, companies get better deals to come back so they come to places where the labor is cheap and they have desperate people without jobs to exploit.

Just more of the race to the bottom.

I think Facebook wants to 2 locations to attract people into different lifestyles, it's expensive to raise a family in CA but single people would probably prefer CA
