Was standing outside a tavern yesterday smoking with friends at happy hour and we had all just put on some NO XL buttons another friend at work had given us. This guy walks past, gives me a dirty look and says, "I hope you all freeze your asses off this winter!" I thought he was just going to keep moving but he just stood there. Asked him why he thought I should freeze my ass off and he said because of XL. I laughed and asked him if he was serious. Told him XL is of no benefit to the USA at all and is dangerous for the environment. He walked away yelling, "You people are ruining this country!"
You people? Did he mean people who use common sense? People who care about the environment? Peope who drink? Smokers? Guess I'll never know.
Conservative logic! Probably a hate radio listener.

(39,374 posts)I'm convinced 90 percent of it is because so many on the Left oppose it, the difference being the latter group has a list of legitimate reasons that have nothing to do with pissing off the Right.
It's stupid.

(4,309 posts)Very shy, very quiet Filipino immigrant girl I work with looked at me and said, "What an asshole!" Hardly ever heard her speak, much less curse. Had to give her a hug!

"Obama, who spoke at a news conference in Myanmar, said he has had to constantly push back against the idea that Keystone is a "massive jobs bill."
Introducing a fresh debating point, Obama also rejected the idea it would lower gas prices in the U.S., saying it would provide Canada the ability to pump its oil, and "send it through our land, down to the Gulf, where it will be sold everywhere else. That doesn't have an impact on U.S. gas prices

(and as an aside, former smoker here who loved smoking...try a good ecig!! I've been using them for almost 3 years, all of the nicotine pleasures and none of the nasty smoke and other crap! You sound like someone we need around for a long time!! not preaching or trying to make you feel bad, it's something I bring up with a lot of smokers!)
I do need to make a change in that regard!

(904 posts)Sadly that's not who we are. We have actually thought about this pipeline for more than a couple minutes and have figured out it's simply a SHAM. Temp jobs, eminent domain, Canadian oil shipped off to market somewhere else: multi-billionaires take all the profit and we take all the risk.
I think the shortsighted republicans are all touting this as some some of American jobs panacea. And it isn't.
