(2,149 posts)I wonder how these elected representatives who vote against the short or long-term week being of their constituents sleep at night.

(9,148 posts)He needs to stand firmly & proudly with them & veto KXL. Again & again.
There you have it all you Koch purchased politicians, sons & daughters of immigrants that you are.
Dare you to stand before the Native People of this land & tell them their Treaties are irrelevant to your cross border profits.
These people hold the keys to the KXL.
Their treaties and right to be included at the table were ignored, & that will be the downfall of the KXL as it stands today.
Massive global support will join with them if need be. The world is becoming fed up with the Koch's & the horrific toxic mess they helped TransCanada create.
Enough is enough.

(5,075 posts)The mine watershed drains right through the homeland of the natives into Lake Superior. They will absolutely not tolerate its' destruction.
They have money, they have smart tribal attornies and are not going to quit. And they have support from lots of other Wisconsin residents.

(7,830 posts)That's amazing to me. I have the highest respect for these Native Americans. (Not "Indians", they aren't from India!!!)
From the linked article~
Progressive newsman and commentator for MSNBC, Ed Schultz, traveled to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota this year to meet with the Indian opponents of the Pipeline. Firsthand he witnessed the absolute determination of the Indian nations to stop construction of the Pipeline.
He witnessed their determination and reported on it. Except for Schultz the national media shows no interest and apparently has no knowledge of how the Indian people feel about the Pipeline nor do they comprehend that they will go to their deaths stopping it. What is wrong with the national media when it comes to Indians?
As an example of the national media's apathy, the Lakota, Nakota and Dakota have turned their backs on the $1.5 billion dollars offered to them for settling the Black Hills Claim and although they are among the poorest of all Americans, the national media does not consider this news."

(9,148 posts)They did it by themselves. Imagine what power they will hold when the likes of Greenpeace, Environmental Organizations, local & global, and the mass of average Americans step forward to join as they refuse TransCanada to move their machines across the sacred borders of their Native Sovereign Land.
We will all be with them as they beat their drums and assemble.
The toxic oil industry will NOT win this battle.

(297,307 posts)"South Dakota's Republican leadership of John Thune and Kristi Noem always march lockstep with the other Republican robots. Neither of them care that South Dakota's largest minority, the people of the Great Sioux Nation, diametrically oppose the Pipeline and they also fail to understand the determination of the Indian people to stop it."
Too bad South Dakota didn't elect Rick Weiland who would have been with the Sioux on this crisis. Such a shame.
Stand with the Sioux Nation!
