Dish Network subscribers will finally be able to watch CNN, TBS, TNT, TCM, and Cartoon Network again. Turner Broadcasting and Dish settled their ongoing contract dispute on Friday.

Turner and Dish issued a short statement, confirming that its networks - which also include Adult Swim, Boomerang, truTV, HLN, and CNN en Espanol - will all be available once again for Dish subscribers. The two sides also agreed to a carriage extension for TNT and TBS. They will offer no further comment.

CBS has agreed to a short-term extension of its carriage contract with Dish Network while negotiations for a new contract continue, the network announced Thursday afternoon.

The announcement by CBS, the parent company of CBS Interactive, publisher of CNET, avoids a midnight blackout of CBS-owned television stations across the US for subscribers of the satellite TV service. CBS did not indicate the length of the extension, and Dish Network did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

CBS, which according to Nielsen is the network behind half of last week's Top 10 primetime TV programs, began airing commercials last week warning Dish subscribers that they could lose access to programming. The potential blackout would have left Dish subscribers in 14 markets, including New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, without access to the network's broadcasts of NFL games and "The Big Bang Theory," the No. 1 TV program behind "Monday Night Football."

I DVR many movies from TCM. Unless you get them off DVR to disc they all belong to DISH in the end. misterhighwasted Nov 2014 #8

if they lost both the CBS and Turner Channels which are extensive a lot of people might say ENOUGH. Can't wait to see what happens in South if SEC and NFL fans can't watch Alabama etc or the Dallas Cowboys. I would suggest they not find out

Actually, the nicest part is that I don't see Glenn Beck's channel polluting my favorites list anymore (DISH had replaced one of the Turner channels with Blaze while this was being sorted out).

Of course, now I'll be wondering how much next month's bill will be going up.

Better DVR & save a few Turner Classic Movies while I can.

There is a way to record to disc what's on your DVR before it's removed or deleted.
Maybe I better look into that..hmmm

A year ago we had to upgrade our DISH DVR. It was an original & we'd had it for years. IT finally went on the blink because it was outdated.
DISH replaced it with a new & current version, & took the old one with them.
Needless to say, everything we had DVR'd, favorites to classics went along with the old machine. We were just s.o.l.

I do know someone who knows how to save DVR favs to disc or something a bit more current tech. Not sure what you need to do this but it may be worth looking into.

Not comfy being at the mercy of a corporate dispute.

Maybe have to check the copyright rules first but... hmm
