We need a living wage. Folks can't live on minimum wage. And the rest of us can't afford to keep paying these outrageous taxes. We need to hold these corporations accountable.

Seasonal, $8.25 an hour, 15-20 hours a week. It's considered a good job, where I live.

8.50 for around 30 hours a week. Also considered a good job where I live. Hell, minimum wage is often considered good - lots of people up here work under the table.

Depressing.
I'm especially angry about this "Black Friday" thing.
In California, I've been seeing a tv ad: it's by a store called Big Lots, and the ad boasts their "Black Friday" happening on Thursday at SEVEN AM!
They have supposed workers happily dancing and singing a song celebrating that they get to work at 7am on Thanksgiving.

This is what the 1% want: the lower classes having nothing. Do you think these CEO's and owners are going to be spending their Thanksgiving Day mornings and evenings at the store?

Because in the real world that I live in a lot more than 10% of retail workers are poor.

In the late 70s, early 80s, I was in the carpenters union in D.C.. Our scale at that time was $11.75 or thereabouts. Plumbers and electricians made more. Even laborers made $8.00+.

The non union shops were forced to be competitive just to stay around. You could actually live! Not royalty, but you got by fairly well.

Since St. Ronnie, it's been a race to the bottom for wage earners. He really fucked us good!

Right-wingers love to call all welfare recipients "moochers", but who are the real moochers?
The working poor, or their employers who won't pay them enough to live on?
