(Reuters) - Cleveland officials on Wednesday released a video of the fatal police shooting of a 12-year-old boy that shows him pointing a pellet gun around a park before police arrive and shoot him within two seconds.
Tamir E. Rice was shot by a patrol officer on Saturday after a 911 call reported someone pointing a gun at people at the Cudell Recreation Center. The caller said the gun could be a fake.
The video shows the boy walking and pointing the gun in different directions before entering a gazebo.
A patrol car with two officers pulls up to the gazebo. The first to get out, identified by a city official as Timothy Loehmann, 26, shoots almost immediately.

(68,644 posts)The video shows that the kid was, indeed, pointing the fake pistol at passersby.
And when the car drives up on the kid under the gazebo, the kid lifts his shirt or sweatshirt to reveal the gun.
Then the cop shoots him, saying that he thinks the kid is about 20 years old, holding a black revolver.
We need more training.

(68,644 posts)The audio is not in sync with the video, and it's not the entire video.
I guess there are two videos out there, or more.
You'll see what looks like a pedestrian (obscured) walking by as the toy gun is drawn.

(115,679 posts)how it stops when the police arrive and shoot him, it makes it look like time has passed. Thanks for the vid link. In real time there was no time to lift his shirt or do what he was told to do, or even time to tell him 3 times to show his hands.

(68,644 posts)This crap about calling in anything related to a gun is a bit nutty.
I know he said it might be fake but really, these calls didn't happen back when, IMO, even more little kids were out playing with toy guns in public, like when I was a kid.
What have we become?
