This past February in Downtown Los Angeles, Shia LaBeouf fused the meta-celebrity of James Franco and Marina Abramovics audacious performance art to create #IAMSORRYa piece wherein the former Even Stevens star sat alone in a room dressed in a tuxedo with a paper bag over his head. LaBeouf remained silent, and the actoror person visiting him in the roomcould do whatever they pleased with him. Our reporter, Andrew Romano, removed the bag from the actors head, revealing a weeping LaBeouf.
One visitor apparently took things way, way further.
In an interview with Dazed Digital, LaBeouf claims that a woman entered the room and proceeded to have sex with him against his will.
One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me, said LaBeouf. There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well.

Even if he felt it would 'destroy his art', he had the agency to choose to stop the woman at any time. The fact that he decided to let her 'rape' him shows that he didn't have a desire to simply say 'Hell no. There are limits, and that's one of them.'

why should anyone take his word for this bizarre story? It doesn't make any sense.

(9,796 posts)If the gender was flipped, anyone who mentioned not believing it would be, at the least, challenged on it. If we're supposed to believe women when they could certainly have yelled for help (say, at a party), then it's only fair to assume that the man is telling teh truth as well.

(14,733 posts)Put a 120 lb woman in a room with a 240 lb sexually aggressive man, and she's likely to assume that the more she resists, the more violent he'll become - and frequently she'll be correct.
I don't find this at all comparable to how or why the vast majority of women get raped. I don't think I've ever heard of a woman being raped because she was doing 'performance art' that allowed any male to 'come in and do whatever he wanted'.

(10,362 posts)I was surprised to see him in Fury. Didn't think that Hollywood still gave him roles. He doesn't have the charisma or the looks to make a Robert Downey Jr style comeback, either.
Shame.
