If not, why not? Whoever has the guts to speak out first will get my vote in the primaries. But not if it takes weeks.

(31,849 posts)Sanders talked about spending a trillion on infrastructure repair (and we should); Warren talked about a need for more accountability of banking regulators (and we need it); and, Clinton talked around whether she would run for president.

They have no more special insight to bring to the situation than you or I.

(7,908 posts)empanel a new Grand Jury, were Hillary to issue such a call to McCulloch to recuse himself and to Nixon to appoint a Special Prosecutor. Same goes for Sanders and Warren, albeit maybe to a lesser extent, since neither has yet been crowned the presumptive Democratic nominee for 2016.
Please think about your rhetorical question ("Why should they?" . Please think about it some more.
What happened in Clayton, MO over the past three months is an affront to the decent opinion of mankind.
I deeply respect your opinions, but here I must respectfully disagree.

You make some very worthwhile points, but I'm not sure how it would play out in the grander scheme of things. It might be a very small bang for a very large buck.

(1,451 posts)In other words, it's not politically beneficial so they should stay silent. Are they worried about offending racist democrats?!

(7,908 posts)American public square right now. Silence is not an option, imo. I'm very disappointed in Sanders' ongoing silence. I expect more from someone who labels him- or herself a 'Socialist'.
Same applies to the 'rape culture' situation at the U. of Virginia fraternities and campus right now. After what I read about how young women who suffer sexual assault and rape are treated by that campus, there should be riots in the streets of Charlottesville to shut that entire campus down. And, yes, Sanders, Warren and Hillary should be speaking out about it also. Again, I am particularly disappoitned at Senator Sanders' silence.
