The latest "green thing" is NASCAR has announced is that they will be using an all-electric car at the next NASCAR event in Richmond, Virginia at the Sprint Cup Series on April 28. The Focus Electric by Ford will be unveiled to the public on April 25."

(18,650 posts)Racing is how we develop innovations for our street cars, so it makes perfect sense that experimental fuel is being used, but NASCAR is a racing league full of traditions, and I don't know for sure how this will be received.
It shouldn't matter to the fans, and if NASCAR said they were doing it to add efficiency and reliability, it wouldn't raise an eyebrow, but the people who follow NASCAR are the stock from which we find the nation's supply of adamant climate change skeptics. These types won't boycott their favorite pastime over this, but I fully expect well thought out comments like: "This makes me want to puke!".
Maybe NASCAR chief Bill France should have avoided the word "green" and used "clean performance" instead. Hahahaha
