(24,853 posts)And... in the time it took me to type this; it went from relative calm to WINDY and drizzle.
They're saying we may get two to three inches of rain before Wednesday but I hope it rains A FOOT. The lake sure could use it...

(9,901 posts)I have not been up there since my sister passed away 3 years ago.

(24,853 posts)The east end; the part known as Baker Pond, is completely dry but for a little channel of water that surrounds the eagle island.
It's way low but I look at it this way... the lake is man-made and has no source for replenishment but for rain and snowmelt. First dammed in the 1800s, it's never been completely dry and as recently as 2007-08, it was so full they had to let water out the spillway.
I'm optimistic.
Sorry about your Sister.

(2,484 posts)Like Vegas has gone to.....I don't think we can say we really understand just how precious it is.
I mean everyone seems concerned, but they also have perfect green lawns in July during a historical drought.
My guess is we will feel actual pain fairly soon if we don't get multiple strong storms this year.

(57,936 posts)In mine, perfectly green lawns are becoming rarer and rarer. We have a lot of succulents and plants in pots that hold water pretty well. I plant vegetables in large pots.
But we do water our avocado, lemon and other fruit trees. We do not water what used to be our grass.

(3,488 posts)they were forecasting the possibility of a shower here and there later on Sunday. Instead we've had constant rain (very hard at times) since we got up this morning. Not that I mind at all. But if we had known it would be raining this hard we would have covered up our old classic convertible which is parked out on the street......grrrr. Oh well, live and learn....cover the car whenever the word rain is even mentioned in the forecast!

(3,208 posts)We have had spring like days here in Missouri the past two days.
You all can keep that rain, we don't need it as much as California does.
