<snip>
‘Oh my God, are you serious?’ Garner’s widow, Esaw Garner, told The Daily News about the grand jury’s decision not to charge Officer Daniel Pantaleo. ‘You can see in the video that he (the cop) was dead wrong!’ There had been warnings earlier that a decision not to indict the white policeman with a crime for killing a black man would fan tensions.

Eric Garner’s widow reacted with dismay Wednesday after a Staten Island grand jury chose not to indict the NYPD officer who killed her husband with a chokehold.

“Oh my God, are you serious?” Esaw Garner, her voice rising in shock and anger, told The Daily News. “I’m very disappointed. You can see in the video that he (the cop) was dead wrong!”

Garner was referring to the shocking cellphone video first published on NYDailyNews.com that showed Officer Daniel Pantaleo placing Garner in a chokehold — a move banned by the NYPD — and wrestling him to the ground.

“The grand jury kept interviewing witnesses but you didn't need witnesses,” the anguished widow said. “You can be a witness for yourself. Oh my God, this s--- is crazy.”

Esaw Garner said she is now placing her hopes for justice with the U.S. Department of Justice.

That's all it will take, but that is also something you probably won't find. The prosecutor cop relationship is too close. Without the support of the police department, the prosecutor is out of luck, therefore they act more as a defense counsel than a prosecutor. There should be prosecutors who's only job is going after bad cops (and others in the judicial system).

http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/22506492/watch-first-48-video-shows-police-raid-that-led-to-aiyana-stanley-jones-death

Aiyana Mo'Nay Stanley Jones (July 20, 2002 – May 16, 2010), was a seven-year-old girl from the east side of Detroit, Michigan who was shot and killed during a raid conducted by the Detroit Police Department's Special Response Team on May 16, 2010.[3] Her death drew national media attention[4] and led U.S. Representative John Conyers to ask U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder for a federal investigation into the incident.[5]

Officer Joseph Weekley was charged in connection with Jones' death. In October 2011, Weekley was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment with a gun. Weekley's first trial ended in a mistrial in June 2013.[6]

Weekley's retrial began in September 2014. On October 3, the judge dismissed the involuntary manslaughter charge against Weekley, leaving him on trial for only one charge: recklessly discharging a firearm.[7][8][9]

On October 10, the second trial ended in an another mistrial.[10][11]

I see something similar with them with computers. They have to do a month end report, and every month, like clockwork, some of their PCs are broken. They then get overtime to complete their monthly reports when their computer is fixed.

Body cams can contribute to what is known about police excessive force.

The next thing we have to do is go after these racist DAs who don't aggressively seek indictments from the grand juries.

They are the ones with the power after the killings. If they don't use it to go after justice we need to recall their asses pronto.

Either that or laws that call for special prosecutors in police crime cases as the current DA/police connection is too buddy-buddy for the prosecutors to aggressively go for indictments against cops they work with everyday.

Intellectually, I can see the conundrum for local prosecutors. I think if there's a questionable police involved death, the U.S. Attorney should immediately be assigned the case and the grand jury that's empaneled shouldn't be from that immediate area.

I'm not against body cameras but I fear that they'll only be used to create federally funded snuff films.

Staten Island has long been a virtually segregated borough where until recently, blacks were only allowed to live on the north shore.

It's isolation, connected to the rest of the city only by the Verranzano Bridge and the Staten Island Ferry, seems to have helped the racists to operate with impunity. It's also much less diverse than the rest of the city — 80% to 20% minority.

It would fit in very comfortably in the old South.

It's not the lack of opportunity, it must be the drugs that is making them "that way". Attributing their behavior to something more socially acceptable.

Simple fact is most of these people aren't raging on drugs. Not only is there little evidence, but doctors face a liability when they prescribe such things - they must give patients urine tests and if the levels get out of whack they could be liable. So it's not as common as people would like to think - but it's easier than thinking one is paying a racist police force to do these things, eh? But that is exactly what is going on, because most white folk are still just as racist as they ever have been.

Wouldn't hurt to test, but it won't do anything much to fix the problem, because without steroids they would still hate just as much.

It's the ruling monsters of terror who are creating all this hatred, killing, violence, addiction, disease for in many many ways they profit from this. This is the only way they know is profit. What would a policeman have to do to get indicted? I don't have an answer as it now appears there is no answer. We're not talking about a guilty verdict from a jury, but just a decision by the grand jury to send a case to trial where a jury can hear the evidence and determine whether a crime was committed and what crime was committed.

.... why "good" cops don't get all worked up over what these lousy cops make them all look like?

Wed Dec 3, 2014, 06:02 PM
Dec 2014

the Chief of Police lives 5 houses down from me. Maybe it is just this particular CoP, but he doesn't tolerate any bullshit from his cops...none. If they have tarnished records, they don't get employed. If they fuck up big time, they don't stay employed.

What I don't understand is if a small town Chief can be that on the ball with a small budget...wtf is up with huge metro PDs that have millions to spend?

Good cops better start standing up to these bad ones or they are going to lose respect via guilt by association. This really pisses me off...I am pro law enforcement, but the non ending stories of cop abuse is really getting to me.

And he thought that not only did Zimmerman get away with homicide, also the trial was nothing more than a 'dog and pony' show - a complete injustice. I will post a thread when I get a chance to talk to him again, I will ask what he thinks about Garner and Brown.

you can't allow people to get away with cheating the government out of money by selling untaxed single cigarettes, it would lead to anarchy

I sincerely hope I don't have to use the thingy here

in a coherent way. Add this insult onto the insistence of the Ferguson and St. Louis police departments to punish the whole community for not appreciating them for the heroes they consider themselves to be.

Just one more reason for me to be ashamed to be white.

53. What is going on in these grand jury processes?
Wed Dec 3, 2014, 06:02 PM
Dec 2014

Is it a matter of prosecutors with no real desire to actually prosecute putting together deliberately weak or misleading cases?

And/or are many of our fellow citizens who serve on these juries part of the problem, giving cops way too much leeway?

Who appoints those on the commission who chooses a grand jury? Appointees and those that appoint them could definitely have a racist agenda. Justice Dept needs to investigate and do something.

There are powers that be, the good ol boys club that keeps this fascist machine running will continue to call the shots until there is a power change. Until then cops will continue to get away with murder and especially if the person they kill is black.

but I swear to God that if a member of my immediate family was placed in a chokehold and said he/she couldn't breathe and then in fact stopped breathing, and if I had access to a weapon, I would not hesitate in coming to my family member's defense and kill dead every single one of those cops without remorse.

I think these types of criminal acts by police are pushing people closer to armed insurrection. You can push the people just so far. They're not giving the people the option of not using force, as the law isn't working. And they're not even letting people peacefully protest. And I don't say that lightly because I've never been violent, I abhor violence, and my philosophy very much is one of 'live and let live'.

To freerepublic (I know, I know, I like to see what the enemy is thinking from time to time) and I was shocked at the number of people who thought there should be an indictment and this WAS police brutality. If you can get freepers to agree to that, you done fucked up. I sense, as tragic as this is, that we may be seeing the straw that broke the camel's back. There seems to be a palpable outrage from the public in general about this and if anything good comes out of this tragedy it's that.

Look carefully at the white mob throughout the killings of African American child I see no difference in what is happening today other than it is either a wannabe or actual cop doing the killimg. I hope no one ever again listens to the United States get self righteous about human rights. We will reap the whirl wind.
