NYPD shoots black man, immediately texts union rep while victim lies dying.

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
Friday, December 5, 2014, 2:30 AM
In the six and a half minutes after Peter Liang discharged a single bullet that struck Gurley, 28, he and his partner couldn't be reached, sources told the Daily News. And instead of calling for help for the dying man, Liang was texting his union representative.
What's more, the sources said, the pair of officers weren't supposed to be patrolling the stairways of the Pink Houses that night.

The explosive details of the immediate aftermath following the shooting of Gurley are at the center of an investigation by Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson — who is poised to present evidence to a grand jury as early as the end of this month.

hope for any kind of justice anymore. All that does is result in even more anger and disappointment.

Best to anticipate what appears to be the 'system working' on behalf of Cops.

Then decide what can be done to take this crooked system apart and replace it.

Shameful, inhumane and in a decent society criminal.

I lost hope when they let Zimmerman off the hook. A kid with a soda and skittles walking home minding his own business and not a harm to anyone...nope that did it for me.

blameless. If there is a public reaction, go to second step, blame the victim. You're right, no point in hoping the system will change, until the PEOPLE decide to change it.

Sadly, they are the exception, not the rule.

Three indictments against SC police officers in past 4 months

It took nearly four years for a grand jury to hand down a murder indictment in the latest South Carolina shooting.
A white former police chief and at the time the only officer in the small town of Eutawville was charged Wednesday in the 2011 shooting death of an unarmed black man,

The Justice Department cleared Combs, and state investigators began reviewing the shooting in March 2013.

Shows how hard it is to get the DOJ to indict a cop.

That prosecutor did his job. He is a very rare person. Three indicted. Let's hope they set an example for the rest of the country.

I say that in light of watching last night's protests and noting that the police were NOT aggressive and not confrontational,
at least from what was twittered and photographed that I saw, in New York and Boston.

so instead of carving a notch in his gun, or tweeting pics of what he did, his first instinct was to cover his sorry ass, so there was fear of the consequences involved.

was doing back at the station while Mike Brown's body lay in the street. That is why he didn't write a report, probably on the advice of his buddies. They had to match the report to their 'story' later.

I listened to the Police Union chief this morning whining about being 'throw under the bus' by the Mayor. I hope the mayor doesn't back down to these bullies. He should respond, if at all, by reminding this idiot that Bloomberg is gone, and that he is not the CIC of Bloomberg's army, he is mayor of the PEOPLE of NYC who he has no intention of throwing under the bus as Bloomberg did and Giuliani eg.

But they are so used to being protected no matter what they do, they are OUTRAGED when someone doesn't rush to their defense.

The guy was just walking down the stairs with his girlfriend and some idiot cop "makes a mistake". I am getting so sick of this BS. At least the investigating authorities has ruled it as homicide and I hope that idiot cop gets general population in a big, mean prison. His baby won't know him because..........

may support a politician or the concept of Unions in general, but when wrong doing is discovered, they will not defend it no matter who is responsible.

I know there are people who would defend their favorite politician even if they are caught clearly lying, even if they are caught committing crimes against humanity which they claim to oppose. That kind of misguided loyalty isn't something Liberals are known for. Which is why of course they are so 'inconvenient' to those in power who have something to hide. Liberals won't defend them if they do something wrong. Powerful people prefer blind loyalty when they are hiding something.

But Liberals are for justice and will never protect wrong doing no matter who is guilty of it.

It is absolutely bizarre that anyone on a Dem forum would mistake earned criticism of the actions of one Union for 'complaining about Unions' in general.

Absolutely bizarre showing a complete lack of knowledge of liberals in general.

They just don't 'do' blind loyalty.

There is also a law against police officers doing illegal things "under color of law" but I cannot recall EVER hearing anyone charged with that.

The most successful prosecutions have been lawsuits by family members charging violation of Civil Rights.

What usually happens is the family is bought off with a "settlement" and the cop stays on the force or, if he has to move, is quickly hired by another police jurisdiction, sorta of an "old boy" way of helping out the first police Dept.
