A bearded cowboy slings a guitar and swings a sledgehammer in a new country-music video that gushingly praises potential presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
This does not bode well for anyone hoping the coming campaigns will tone down the rhetoric.
We can't wait for the video with Chris Christie doing some sexy break-dancing.

Thinking about one great lady like the women in my life,
Shes a mother, a daughter and through it all shes a loving wife.
A young Hillary is shown with a beaming Bill Clinton.
There is something about her, this great lady, caring hard working, once a first lady.
She fights for country and my family, now its time for us to stand up with Hillary.
Hillar-eeee ...
Stand up ... with Hillar-eee-eee-eee.

(32,139 posts)Not a word about policy. Just a slick, emotionally based advertising campaign.
That it's crude and insulting and tone deaf as hell is actually less disturbing than the fact that this whole format of vapid patriotic slogans and glossy, Madison Avenue images is what passes for POLITICAL advertising today.
We have corporate rulers now, and they have replaced the very concept of elections as important civic events in which we carefully choose public servants to represent our policy goals, with these golssy, insulting pageants.
That's what corporate rule means: the replacement of representative democracy with corporatism.
Instead of an elections process ensure the people's will is represented in government, we get corporate hucksters manipulating us to sell their agenda for profit.

I have come to the conclusion that a Majority of Congress in Both party's have simply evolved into being Nothing more than administrators of Corporate Rule.
Given the low turn-out, election after election-apparently the Non-Voters are perfectly "ok" with allowing a minority of crazies to choose for all.
We, the electorate basically and en masse' are "ok" with "their" selections and subsequent consequences, apparently because "we" are Still not coming out to vote.
Not voting is Still an endorsement of the status quo.

(4,524 posts)I don't think Hillary is electable anyways, but she's bound to do what she always did before - betray her own party and pander to the lowest common denominator in American politics: emotion and rhetoric. These are the dog whistling, chest beating, war loving, conspiracy-buying, pseudo-populist hacks who yell "under god!" during the pledge of allegiance, who think that the ACLU is a terrorist organization because they heard it on The O'Reilly Factor, and who think that everything should be "Jesus-ified" by law and/or force.
A Hillary vs. Jeb 2016 run would be an absolute nightmare. Hillary encompasses everything that is wrong with Washington: an incestuous inner-circle of billionaires who have a "I've got mine, so screw you all" mentality. Hillary vs. Jeb was suck because, no matter who won, we would get a conservative hawk who loves them some war and isn't afraid to tell any lie to make a war happen.

(17,599 posts)all their what I believe to be disgusting attempts at voter suppression and congressional lines were based on Obama being in office. (23,664 posts)First of all, it was gruesomely, almost painfully, awful. The music was mediocre and the words sappy and saccharine. It's not "country music", believe me. I'm from Bakersfield and I know.
Secondly, the nascar crowd as you call them, has been hearing for 25 years from rush limbaugh and other idiots on the radio how hillary clinton is the most liberal person on the face of the planet and she's coming for their guns. One amateurish video won't change their minds.
What this piece of crap will do instead is convince black voters that hillary clinton just plain does not give a shit about them. Of course they won't vote republican, but if she keeps up such obvious pandering to the hick demographic, and keeps trashing the country's first african american president, she can expect a pretty dismal turnout among black voters.
She's not gonna win over any rednecks but she needs the black vote. Without it she's toast.

Have you posted about those yet?
This thread is, perhaps, a break from those revolting outrages, although IMO any thread about Hillary's candidacy carries some nausea with it, because if the Third Way succeeds in making her our nominee, they will have succeeded in ensuring many, many more corporate/neocon/MIC/police state outrages along those lines, no matter which party gains power.

Anyone can post anything they like on DU-I have no problem with that. Anyone can also respond as they see fit-that's exactly what I did.
That video was a giant cocktail of pandering, simpering and condescension. I applaud your commitment to getting Hillary elected, even if I don't share that vision.
That said, that video was absolutely embarrassing. I'm nearly embarrassed FOR HRC supporters.
Rowdyboy
(22,057 posts)No, I do not share the distain (and outright hatred) of Hillary Clinton that so many here do. But to the best of my memory I have never committed to any candidate this cycle. It would be pretty stupid since there aren't any yet. But if the Democratic field in 2016 is as expected I'll likely vote for O'Malley in the Mississippi primary. In 2008 I voted Edwards in our primary. But in both elections it was my stated intention to eventually support whichever candidate the party nominates (and that certainly includes Secretary Clinton) and I did-just like I've voted for every Democratic nominee since 1976. That's who I am-I knew I was a Democrat before I knew I was gay.
You can't necessarily equate defending a political figure with supporting that person for president. That's a bit too much of a leap.
And yes I understand that the party has degenerated into a pathetic caricature of itself but its too firmly embedded in my DNA at this point to change.

(3,732 posts)Hillary made her big mistake way back when her husband was President. Instead of fighting for her vision (health care reform), she cowed to what she thought people wanted - "the cookie baking Mom". And over the years she kept on doing it. "War Hawk Hillary" is just another manifestation of the phenomenon - it's a response to criticism that she might not have the War Chops to be President. Now this is a response to the idea she might not have the White Male Southern Populist Appeal to be President.
Hillary lost my vote the hard way because I really wanted her to be the first woman President. This country needs the first woman President.
Hillary needs to Get a Life.
I mean that literally.
Had Hillary taken a position in life, taken a stand, and just been that person, she would have been the first female President.
Instead she has just molded herself to every critic, turned chameleon colors in response to every challenge. One begins to wonder if there is any Hillary Clinton at all.
It is impossible to vote for her with a clear conscience because there is no way to know who you are really voting for.

(23,664 posts)It just shows how low her opinion really is of rural Americans that she believes they could be swayed by such childish lyrics and mediocre musicianship.
Listen, I live in the Appalachia of California. These people are my neighbors and while I disagree with them on many issues that aren't stupid. They know when they are being patronized and that's exactly what this piece of crap does.
And they aren't the only ones who will be offended by it. What are black voters supposed to think? She's already come out and trashed the country's first African American president. Her 2008 campaign engaged in some questionable and divisive racial tactics. Now she produces a campaign video proclaiming her love for rednecks.
There's only two possibilities. Either Hillary Clinton is getting some godawful advice from somebody or she's utterly out of touch with most of America. She needs black voters to be elected and she has no chance of picking up the rural white vote.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)So invariably some fans like it. There are a lot of other videos posted here like that of other candidates in this thread. I wouldn't trash any of them. You pretty much preached to "people in the South" what appeals to "people in the South". You are telling us what we are like, while simultaneously identifying yourself as not being in that group.

Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)company which did the video. Sounds as false as the other bs I read here.
muriel_volestrangler
(101,322 posts)They give the link to the PAC's site too: http://www.swh2016.com/
You've been on DU for 3 and a half years, over 8,000 posts and you just dismiss DU as 'false BS'?
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)the video is by sonalio.com, this is the correct link to the Stand With Hillary is:
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/trending/Country-music-video-heaps-praise-on-Hillary-Clinton.html#giwkp01do6RkZmGK.99
now my question is why this one was posted as being from Stand With Hillary?
yes I have been here three years and when I see crap it is easily recognized.
muriel_volestrangler
(101,322 posts)as the name of the PAC. The only instance of "stand up with Hillary" in it is in the lyric quoted: "now its time for us to stand up with Hillary" and the title of the video, not the name of the PAC.
How many more mistakes are you going to make, and then to continue to call other people's posts 'crap' when they're correct, and yours are wrong?
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)producer of the video. This sounds like a RW attempt to destroy a Democrat, it is too easy to find this is also a video on yortube. Did you follow the link I provided? this would be the correct one. Someone has hacked the correct one.
muriel_volestrangler
(101,322 posts)Of course I followed it - I quoted from the philly.com article. The 'top left side of the video' is the title of the YouTube video - which I pointed out in #140. Are you not reading my posts before replying?
You first claimed in #129 "The article did not mention which pac put this out". That is false. I quoted from the article in #131: "a news release from the Stand With Hillary PAC" (and that's how you should already have known I followed the link, though your failure to read "a news release from the Stand With Hillary PAC" seems to shows that you had not followed it). Did you not even read the title of my post before replying to it? The link you 'provided' is the link in the OP. It's what everyone here has been using.
'sanalio.com' is not the 'producer' of the video. It is someone who has put a copy up on YouTube. The producer of the video is the Stand With Hillary PAC, as has been made abundantly clear. You may think the video is awful (a lot of people do), but the PAC is run by people who seem to be genuine Democrats - Miguel Orozco and Daniel Chavez.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)the post, you will find the information I have provided. It is a poor quality video, lip sink is off, either cali's post has been hacked or it is not correct.
muriel_volestrangler
(101,322 posts)That's all I'm asking of you now. You are incapable of holding a conversation on this; but just get rid of the first bit of rubbish you said. After that, you've just been flailing about, not reading my posts, and trying to look as if you read the OP too. I don't care too much about that; just correct the initial bollocks you typed. Is that too much to ask?
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)what I saw and knew it was bs. It also said Stand with Hillary and the video had Stand Up with Hillary.
muriel_volestrangler
(101,322 posts)it's wrong and misleading? Why? Why have you so little respect for the truth? Just fix it. Remember, it's the article you called 'bs', and DU in general, not the video.
And, of course, you alerted on the OP. Luckily, 6 of the jury saw through your bullshit. Unluckily, the 7th doesn't like cali, so you didn't get a 7-0 vote against you that would have prevented you from alerting for 24 hours.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)Admit the video on the post is a lie or dies your need for honesty only go so far. The post is incorrect and I could see through the crap right away, why the others could not see the error is on them, it was misleading and in fact I am surprised Cali did not see through this one, but l am nit sure Stand up with Hillary or Stand with Hillary are true Hillary pacs, I am quiet familiar with Ready for Hillary is a true pac so maybe the lie is still on others. Check it out, no sites for either two names with any base. Yep lies.
muriel_volestrangler
(101,322 posts)and so, half way through, the video freezes on a frame. The audio is the same as the one on philly.com and the swh2016.com site. There's nothing 'dishonest' about it. The post is not 'incorrect' in any way. There's no 'crap' there. There's no error. It's not misleading.
How do you define a 'true' Hillary site? I already linked to this, but I don't suppose for a moment you bothered reading it:
The group is based in Camarillo, California, and run by Daniel Chavez, a longtime Democratic operative who worked on Clintons 2008 campaign and in the administration of former President Bill Clinton.
http://fusion.net/story/31558/hillary-clinton-country-music-video-stand-with/
'Ready For Hillary' has the normal disclaimer "Not Authorized by any Candidate or Candidate's Committee". The only thing that makes any pro-Hillary PAC 'true' is whether the people running it support her; Chavez has a known track-record of doing so.
No, it's not 'lies'. If you claim to be admitting your error, then correct them (you have made many 'errors', as has been pointed out). All you have done here is cast doubt on a genuinely pro-Hillary PAC, without evidence, and criticiseda copy of a video with the pictures run at double speed.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)One video has stand up with Hillary the other has stand with Hillary. The video on the post is one posted on YouTube with sanalio.com which is the same as YouTube, the one in the link does not have this. It apparently has both been posted as Hillary videos but doesn't say they have been authorized by Hillary since she does not have her own Pac and will not until she declares her candidacy. Where in the hell are the dumb videos coming? Got any idea. It I the san

Hillary seems to have problems hiring good PR people - she hired that gawdawful creep Mark Penn in '08 and he was a total disaster. If this video is any indication of what's to come, Penn would be an improvement.

(13,616 posts)In a week where the Black community, the ones who embraced Clinton so much, could use a pick me up, who gets the music video loves?
The same country folk that love the GOP
The same rural folk that sent Alison Grimes, Charlie Crist, and many Clinton style democrats packing.
The same rural folks that put Mitch McConell back in charge.
I mean, they coudl have easily made a cheap video with adobe that could have gotten a million hits on you tube
They easily could have recutied someone like Beyonce to do a vidoe with her music.
Or even a local Gospel group.
NO.
The bottom line is, we are the stepchildren. The Clintons know they need minorities. They know we do the heavy lifting that the rural folk keep promising to do, but never do.
All the same, we are not the beloved ones. The only thing is that we know UNCLE GOP would just as soon put us in a sack and drown us like kittens.
But the Clintons think the mere absence of outright abuse is love.

(108,980 posts)I don't get country music, but I don't get most of the southern culture. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to win the Presidency if a Democrat doesn't break through in at least a couple of those states -- and our recent elections make the situation look very grim.
Obviously, her stand on the issues will be what matters the most, everywhere in the country. But any candidate who simply turns up her nose at the southern culture can expect to be defeated.
