Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just filled my tank for 2.39 a gallon.. Regular gas........ How about you?
Last week it was 2.51.
Lil car has a 11 gallon tank, Mr. Dixie's Ford whatever has double that, I think.
Really never thought I would see under 3.00 prices again.

(12,754 posts)It's only a temporary maneuver by the US and the Saudis to ruin the economies of Syria and Russia. Some day soon, prices will shoot back up again, probably higher than before to make up for the current dip in price.

(4,112 posts)Average is closer to $2.89. We have an extra local gas tax of 25 cents/gallon, then there's zone pricing because only "rich people" live in Fairfield County. Not!!

(60,010 posts)I noticed the low prices for regular but the higher octane pumps were actually much pricier, and diesel is over 3,00.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)Premium and diesel are much higher. We always have extraordinarily high fuel costs here. It's actually cheap here in Anchorage compared to the Bush communities where it's sometimes as high as $6 or $7 a gallon.

(60,010 posts)I know there are a lot of factors amid the whys and how of this sudden low gas price, but for now, just for a minute now,
I rejoice because it means so many struggling people can have less expensive job commutes
and less expensive heating oil for awhile.

(15,396 posts)-10 bucks a tank in my commuter car
-20 a tank in my DW's DD that we also use for most all family trips.
That's assuming it has always been 3.50 a tank, when in reality it's slowly drifted down to 2.36 so we don't really notice the bank balance. Only the thought of saving 100 bucks remains.

Does not matter to me. Three weeks from exactly this moment I will be on my way out of the state and then out of the country. Three weeks in Europe and then to my new home in Mauritius.

(60,010 posts)We retired very early in 2005, and in looking where to land, Mr. Dixie wanted to consider Mexico, given his fond memories of being there in teh 70's.
But....I did not want to move there, so he obligingly agreed we could move to another foreign ( for him) land....the Deep South.

(21,786 posts)There have been a number of surveys in recent years that have found that people by and large were driving less because of higher fuel prices. See this for instance: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0966692311001578

(38,187 posts)Thing is, I only fill up about once every 4 to 6 weeks or so and that is only the half a tank it takes to top it up. It's a 1989 Nissan Sentra and uses very little gas. I only go anywhere a few times a month and that's usually to just the stores a couple miles down the road.
Those sound like good prices though. Gratz!
