NYPD Unleash Military Sound Blasts At Protesters’ March For Eric Garner (VIDEO)

With more incidents of excessive police force being used on protesters around the world, the use of military-grade weapons and devices has become a major concern.

At about 1 AM on Friday, the NYPD used a Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) on a group of approximately 100 protesters who were gathered for a March for Eric Garner at the Manhattan intersection of 57 East and Madison Avenue. This comes just months after LRADs were used in Missouri when Ferguson experienced several days of unrest after Michael Brown was fatally shot.

YouTube user James C recorded footage and uploaded it to YouTube, showing the LRAD being used at about 1:58. You can watch the chaotic scene below:

I expect that police would call it a garotte and kill such protesters on sight because they're carrying a deadly strangling weapon.

Actually, I thought that these LRAD contraptions also worked by disturbing the soft tissues of the body, rather than simply producing a dreadful noise.

If that's the case, then ear plugs won't do you any good.
