Warren Buffett has said he wouldnt contribute to third-party political action committees but recently made his first donation to a so-called super PAC, $25,000 to a group formed in case Hillary Clinton runs for president in 2016.
Lisa Lerer wrote for Bloomberg News that Buffetts donation went to Ready for Hillary, a super PAC that has become a campaign in waiting but with no connection to the former first lady and former secretary of state. The committee limits contributions to $25,000, although many super PACs have no such limits.
Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. of Omaha, has been a longtime supporter of Clinton. In a 2012 interview, CNNs Poppy Harlow asked whether Buffett contributed to super PACs.
No, I wont do it, he answered. I know the argument is that the other guy has a nuclear bomb and youre sitting there with a pistol or something or less, but ... I just think its wrong.
Its the amount of money that he doesnt like.
