Warren Buffett has said he wouldn’t contribute to third-party political action committees but recently made his first donation to a so-called “super PAC,” $25,000 to a group formed in case Hillary Clinton runs for president in 2016.

Lisa Lerer wrote for Bloomberg News that Buffett’s donation went to Ready for Hillary, a super PAC that has become a “campaign in waiting” but with no connection to the former first lady and former secretary of state. The committee limits contributions to $25,000, although many super PACs have no such limits.

Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. of Omaha, has been a longtime supporter of Clinton. In a 2012 interview, CNN’s Poppy Harlow asked whether Buffett contributed to super PACs.

“No, I won’t do it,” he answered. “I know the argument is that the other guy has a nuclear bomb and you’re sitting there with a pistol or something or less, but ... I just think it’s wrong.”

It’s the amount of money that he doesn’t like.
