(5,417 posts)I doubt somebody who is late to work and will now have one hour less on their paycheck is happy to see the highway shut down.

(37,748 posts)I'd guess zero were fired. However, if you are indeed concerned, you could find out and relate the sourced answer to us all-- would be an interesting discussion...

(20,277 posts)or a sporting event, or for no damn reason. People lose pay then, and nobody whines about it. Sorry, but being quiet and not inconveniencing people doesn't get any notice. If people are idiotic enough to complain about people protesting against murdering cops, then I don't know what to say.

(9,461 posts)Civil Rights movement was about peaceful protests. (on the side of the AA's anyway). I don't feel like the protesters have given the non-disruptive thing a chance where Ferguson is concerned.

(37,748 posts)Does the same apply to the protesters in Hong Kong? If not, what is the precise and relevant difference?

Suddenly, traffic is of a huge concern to people, and everyone works 3 miserable jobs that they will lose because of it.

Seriously, if these idiot anarchists keep it up, I don't think a Grand Jury will indict a cop ever again. It's rare enough as it is.

(7,769 posts)California Highway Patrol followed the protesters down the interstate.
I think CHP just didn't have the manpower to contain them all.

(38,613 posts)A protest of some form or another goes through my neighborhood all the time, and there are always cops on motorcycles just ahead of the march to block cross-traffic. Usually they have a car or two in the back, too.
I guess this area has seen so much of this over the decades, it gets treated as normal most of the time.
CHP probably made the wise decision that it's less disruptive to protect them than to try arresting all of them.

(60,010 posts)the protesters made a clearing for an ambulance, and said they would so same for fire engines on way to fire.
Their coordinated, unified message now is "No more business as usual. shut 'er down"
because they are done with being ignored over the continuing genocide of black Americans.
And yes, genocide IS the word they are using.
I find Twitter is a fast way to catch a lot of what is going on, allows for a wide and more educated viewpoint.
btw...we marched in the streets in the 70's, for a long long time.

(10,495 posts)So do you believe that this is the best way the protestors can achieve their goals?
