http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/12/fox-melts-down-after-torture-report-the-united-states-of-america-is-awesome-we-are-awesome/Fox News analysts, hosts and reporters on Tuesday wasted no time in blasting Democrats after Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) released a report condemning the CIAs use of torture and other enhanced interrogation techniques.
Just moments after Feinstein announced on the floor of the Senate that the Intelligence Committee had made the long-delayed torture report public, Fox News National Security Analyst K.T. McFarland insisted that Democrats were going to do harm to the country by angering terrorists.
McFarland, who said that torture techniques were both legal and justified by the horrific terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, argued that Democrats were only releasing the report for political reasons.
Why go after it now unless the motivation is completely political? she remarked. Congress is changing hands, the Senate is going from Democrat to Republican hands. And are the Democrats in the Senate just theyve been evicted from the house, are they just trashing the place before they leave?

The United States of America is awesome, we are awesome, she said. But weve had this discussion. Weve closed the book on it, and weve stopped doing it. And the reason they want to have this discussion is not to show how awesome we are. This administration wants to have this discussion to show us how were not awesome.

(29,503 posts)Laughable and pathetic. They claim she's a National Security Analyst, whatever that means (correspondence course Ph.D. in National Security Analysis?). She probably calls herself a journalist, too.

(505 posts)At torture. Every one loves what they do best. Everyone excels at what they love. To this we give the chief of all our remaining days.
Can you imagine some one taking torture as a job, working it like a job, and at the end of thirty five years, checking out, drawing a pension, and living with themselves? Most of us only have to deal with pain and regrets. How would you like guilt for your measure, and know you did your job well done, as you dress to meet your maker. You see, anyone can kill anyone. The great challenge is to make people hate their only life, hate it with a passion, and wish it away. That is the triumph of the spirit. That is the elevation of the soul nearer my God to thee. America needs a few good men and women to be awesome, and this is a job too few can do.

(34,136 posts)Or unless they knew from the first time they tortured a captive that it was completely ILLEGAL?
We're not awesome because we, as Americans, let torture happen. And we're not going to be awesome as long as we don't name the names of the people who did it, punish them for doing it and make it clear to everyone who works for our government (or for companies that work for our government) that they should NEVER torture people.
