...here is a place to start: a White House petition created by a good friend.

Whether or not you believe in the effectiveness of online petitions, lending your name to the argument is at least a step. Have at it.

(14,255 posts)Although I have been assured elsewhere that everything in the TPP is peachy and legal and Civics!, and therefore I must be an uninformed idjit to not only be against the TPP, but refuse to sing hosannas to the authors and the pushers. I assume I am now on some sort of grade school slam book list, or whatever the McCarthy-ish version of a list of TPP objectors is called. An honor, really. Oh, and I do not consider that I "lose" arguments about the TPP, I am just too disgusted to continue.

(24,692 posts)Americans overall are lukewarm about the two major trade deals under negotiation the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a free trade agreement between the European Union and the U.S., and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a free trade deal between the U.S., Canada and 10 Asian-Pacific countries. About half (53%) of Americans see TTIP as a good thing and 55% say the same about TPP. Democratic support for both treaties is stronger than that of Republicans: 60% of Democrats see TTIP as a good thing compared with 44% of Republicans, while 59% of Democrats look favorably on TPP compared with 49% of Republicans.

We need another Full Court Press like this spring to again beat the Fast Track plan to turn Congress into a mute, non-deliberating, no input rubber stamp for a corporate spawned nightmare, that is attempting to produce a more expansive degradation in more diverse field (environmental law, worker safety, food safety, patent and copyright law, pharmaceutical pricing, the ability of local & state governments to carry out their constitutional duties to protect the general welfare, ETC) all in one, non-negotiable, no input, no deliberation of the corporate produced rules by the elected representatives of our democracy, up or down, last minute/under duress vote.
We've got to get the word out.
