WASHINGTON — Some GOP lawmakers from the Midlands took issue with a new report about CIA interrogation and suggested that the harsh techniques could be necessary.

Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., criticized the report as “one-sided,” noting that it was issued by the Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee and did not represent the CIA’s perspective.

“We need to look at what information is brought forward when you use those techniques, and if it’s proved to be valuable, we have to have all options on the table,” she said. “We need to protect citizens of this country.”

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, questioned whether the report should have been released at all, saying it might hurt national security and endanger intelligence-gathering personnel.

back into office election cycle after election cycle.

And the fact that Tom Harkin's seat will now be occupied by Palin-lite Joni Ernst makes me yearn for one of Charlie Pierce's "Prestone cocktails".
