The "We can't prosecute, because we may one day be their cellmate" argument

Is as patently absurd and weaselly an excuse to avoid responsibility as I believe I have heard in quite some time.

what these Democrats and Republicans forget "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility".

They all aspire to that office without fully understanding all it entails. They just believe that if they are lucky enough to get that office they will be forgiven for anything they do.

If it has come to a point where the agreement exists between supposedly opposing factions within government that everybody is criminally culpable, all bets are off. The US is legally required to prosecute crimes regardless of political consequences.
