The redacted quote is from a woman, reacting to the predicted outrage from Japanese nationalists, that the torture depicted in "Unbroken" is, of course, "inaccurate," and "never happened." Kinda like the Holocaust, etc.
But here's the whole shocking quote:
"Mindy Kotler, director of Asia Policy Point, told the Telegraph: It is one thing to question the memories of illiterate women who were forced into sexual slavery for the Japanese military. It is quite another to question the memory of a white male Olympian who was a disciple of Billy Graham.'"
Holy crap. A woman is saying it makes sense that "illiterate women" wouldn't be believed about sexual torture and slavery -- but how dare we question white guys!
Here's the whole article:

(26,001 posts)..are owed the same "credibility," as white, Billy Graham-following males?
And not that the latter have more innate credibility than the former, and how could these Nationalists possible question him?

(26,001 posts)some of the reader comments at the Guardian are shocked by her quote, too, so her syntax certainly didn't serve her well...
