Why don't we talk about all the contradictions to the last resort defense of torture?

1) The Bush administration tried to limit the investigation of 9/11 from the beginning. When the 9/11 Commission was finally enacted Bush's first choice for chairman was Henry Kissinger. Kissinger had to resign due to so many conflicts of interest.

2) The CIA Inspector General conducted an internal review of 9/11. That review suggested an accountability panel for several CIA officials which included CIA Director George Tenet. That panel was never held. We know of at least two CIA officials who were promoted despite being linked to the obstructed al-Hazmi/al-Mihdhar investigation. That would be Bin Laden station members Rich Blee (unit chief) and Alfreda Bikowsky. She is one of the key CIA officials implicated in the torture report.

3) The Bush administration covered up 9/11 links to the Saudi government. Instead the Bush administration sold the public on links between Iraq and al Qaeda.

Suffice to say it makes no sense at all to skip obvious steps of investigation and accountability and instead rush to implement a bizarre torture program.

He could have declassified 28 pages of the 9/11 Congressional Joint Inquiry report which evidently detail Saudi links to the hijackers.

I don't see any good faith in regard to the torture program. Why does President Obama suggest otherwise?
