Romney Supporter Nugent Admitted to Multiple Affairs With Underage Girls in '98 VH1 Documentary

It appears Ted Nugent's violent rhetoric at the NRA convention over the weekend may not be the only problem facing the Romney campaign with their acceptance of his endorsement. Jason Easley at Politicus USA reports that Nugent apparently had a penchant for messing around with underage teenage girls when he was in his thirties and out on the road touring.

The term "pedophile" is not technically correct for what Ted Nugent was doing, but it doesn't make it any less disgusting that the man was out there talking the parents of teenage girls into allowing him to have sex with their underage daughters.

Also, if anyone needs more proof of his complete scumminess, look up the cover of his 2007 album, "Love Grenade." I vote for trussing him up like that and taking his photo.

And she apparently never brought him up on charges. Is it confirmed that she was a groupie?

Even so, that's still within range of a hebephile. In other words, he's the sort of guy who'd willing commit statutory rape, but not attracted to downright children. Still equally scummy, though not equally sick.

Sun Apr 22, 2012, 06:55 PM
Apr 2012

and my response is that there's no reason to think she would be less reliable than Nugent. Also, Nugent didn't dispute it or sue her for libel. I don't know if she was a groupie, but her mother testified in court that Love's father gave her LSD when she was four years old. Basically, she had incredibly negligent parents, was called "Pee Girl" because her parents didn't wash her clothes, and a friend of hers reported that Love was "thrilled" when her stepfather gave her a toothbrush, because she had never had one before. So, she was probably quite vulnerable to being preyed on, as it sounds like she had no supervision or real support.

I certainly don't want to make any claims I can't support with research, though. If anyone has more information on the debate, I'd be happy to read it.

45. Easy to see why Nugent wouldn't dispute it.
Mon Apr 23, 2012, 12:17 AM

Because if you sue for liable, the defendant gains a lot of latitude in fact finding. Which means that even if Love's allegations didn't prove out in every detail, all kinds of other information about Nugent's liaisons with underage girls would come out in court. Plus, the burden of proof for a public figure is higher, which means he'd likely lose anyway.

Moreover, it's quite likely Nugent doesn't remember if he had oral sex with her or not. Drunk and high as any rocker in the 70s would be, he also has no way of knowing whether a certain groupie turned into Courtney Love or not.

Not only that, I don't doubt her that much. If she was in Nugent's group at any time, it happened. Knowing him, and knowing how out of control she must have been like at that age, it's 95 percent likely.

The show was in a segment talking about daughters of rock stars conflicts when the "parade of young women" ("young women", my ass ) through the household and Chicken Ted's daughters were then interviewed.

They explained how rough it was for them "especially the young ones". Then they sadly reminisced about one incident where the poor girl was so young she was playing basketball with their little brother kid-to-kid. The two daughters (still only 18 or 19 when the special was filmed) recalled it in mournful tones you would expect. "It was the worst when he would bring home ones younger than us." Ted's daughter who shares his last name said sadly.

Luckily for that child and perhaps a few others, Chicken Gutless Molestor Ted's daughters "put their foot down" and apparently saved that girl that day.

Then, crazily enough, the camera pans back or clips away to reveal the two daughters WITH TED, who smilingly (the BASTARD) laughs and says "I'm a breeder. You know." And laughs again.

Jailbait you look fine fine fine
I know Ive got to have you in a matter of time

And Ted's behavior was in the sordid tradition of Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis and maybe a half dozen other rock stars.

Unbelievable how things have changed, and incredible how people forget this. Yes, you could sing about it in the '70s and maybe early '80s without raising eyebrows. But remember, the older generation disapproved of all the lyrics.

Of course, the main the difference is, Chuck and Jerry don't endorse candidates.

...it's bad enough that he's a really shitty, yet somehow highly overrated guitar player -- but with lyrics like this, he's proclaiming that he's nothing more than an outright sexual predator/rapist, whatever age his victims may be.

I remember way back in 1977 or so, Ted was the reason for the worst live music experience I ever was subjected to, next to REO Speedwagon and Styx.

Ted's a textbook example sociopath, at the very least.

Hence the Rmoney endorsement.

He convinced a 14 year olds parents to sign her over to him and then returned her three years later. He got into hot water last year on American Idol for making comments to underage contestants.

I'm not defending the behaviors at all, but these two are not the only ones. Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin. Jimmy Page had a relationship with a 14 year old named Lori Maddox. Elvis dated a 14 year old...

If rumors are right, Romney isn't the first Repub to get linked to a pedophile performer. I've not confirmed it/sourced it, but there's an interesting read online that asserts that back in 2004 Dubya got caught out for using Gary Glitter's song Rock and Roll Part 2 AGAIN. You saw that right--they got busted TWICE for using a convicted kiddie porn lover's song while campaigning:

Neither proudly, nor desperately.

And I'm guesing the gun-toting, murdering Spector had a lot of views in common with Nugent and was doing his level best to take Obama down with him. So, you found a piss poor example.

32. So your speculation is that Spector isn't an Obama supporter.
Sun Apr 22, 2012, 04:20 PM
Apr 2012

Is there ANY evidence to support that other than random hopeful speculation?

And while I don't recall Obama refusing to "accept his endorsement" (not that candidate usually personally accept or refuse personal endorsements), the campaign did return his $4350. Of course, his endorsement came in July '08 and the money was returned in April '09, a week before Spector was convicted.

In the end, the point is this... candidates have no control over who supports them, though they are free to denounce them. The fact that Nugent is a pedophile OR an NRA favorite isn't a surprise to anyone reading here on the DU, and the fact that he's a pedophile is probably only 6th or 7th on the list of reason's why most people here hate Ted Nugent. There's a billion good reasons to dislike Romney, but "Romney got an endorsement from the NRA, and a prominent NRA member is an admitted pedophile" is, while accurate, still a pretty weak argument against Romney. It will be no more effective than the repukes "Bill Ayres" argument. People who know who Ayres was had already formed their opinions. Those who didn't care already will continue to not care, those who were already looking for a reason to attack Obama jumped on it, those who were supporting Obama already dismissed it as irrelevant.

The NRA doesn't need the Ted Nugent association to make it look bad, it's own policies do that just fine. Along the same lines, Romney doesn't need the NRA association to make him look bad, his own policies do that.

35. Oh, is that the point?
Sun Apr 22, 2012, 05:51 PM

The most obvious, no-duh, point that you didn't have to make? My point was that Spector is a rather weak example. If you gave a list, "Well, Obama got the endorsement of . . . (him him and him)" Pointing out that Democrats regularly accept donations from statutory rapists just to gain some credibility with his base, then you'd have a point that's marginally better than common knowledge.

"Do you have any evidence for this?"

Why would you ask this when you have the refutation already? No, I didn't. It's called a conjecture, indicated by my words, "I'm guessing . . ." You seem very good at absorbing random facts about Spector's campaign donations without much reading comprehension. I don't really care about it, but thank you for informing me as rudely as possible.

Also, I'm grateful that you stopped me before I put together my attack ad using this ineffective tactic. Please, go give your ideas to Obama's campaign managers. I'm sure they'll the be astounded. But try not to insult them, as you just did with me.
