Preckwinkle Seeks to Curb Juvenile Offender Transfers to Adult Court
(Chicago) Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle wants to squash the Illinois law that automatically transfers children into adult criminal court.
Preckwinkle will deliver a speech on Friday, December 12, calling for an end to the Illinois law that automatically transfers children charged with certain felony offenses from juvenile court into adult criminal court.
The speech, to be delivered in the Cook County Board Room at 10:00 a.m., marks the beginning of Cook Countys participation in the White House-led My Brothers Keeper initiative, which aims to address the persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color.

for those that sometimes despair about change, know that the current cook county board is an amazingly progressive body. back in the st raygun days the board president just woke up one day and decided to ban abortions at cook county hospital. we have come an incredibly long way, and are setting an example for the nation.
the county's embrace of the aca is set to revolutionize the imprisonment of the mentally ill here. the sheriff and president preckwinkle embraced this as a way to solve so many of the counties problems, and started their own medicaid hmo, a year early under an exemption.
i am extremely proud of these great dems.
so good to live in the land of the blue. (for now)
