The Fox News contributor said protests of Eric Garner's death are an example of a "victimization mentality" VIDEO

What an ignorant, racist, hypocritical POS.
At Monday nights game against the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James joined several other players in donning I Cant Breathe T-shirts, in protest of a grand jurys decision in the Eric Garner case. Several of the contributors at Fox News saw a problem with James solidarity, made clear on Wednesdays edition of Hannity. Most notably, Geraldo Rivera took issue with James shirt not so much with the player wearing it, but rather with what the shirt protested. Apparently, in Riveras world, objecting to Garners death at the hands of a New York police officer performing an illegal chokehold might indicate some misplaced priorities.
What if LeBron James instead had a shirt: Be a better father to your son. Raise your children, Rivera said. Those difficult issues are not being dealt with by the black community, because they are so complex, they are so deep rooted, they are really so profoundly troubling that they dont want to try and it is a victimization mentality that says we can only motivate when we are the victims.
Its easy to demonstrate and be outraged when we are the victims, Rivera went on. Look what they are doing to us rather than what we are doing to ourselves. There is a kind of urban suicide happening here that has to be dealt with.

Not hard to tell who's the better human being between the two.

(9,350 posts)Not that it matters to me, but only one of his kids was born in wedlock. They had the two boys before they were married.

(22,336 posts)and I've never heard that Garner was a bad father anyway.
Totally idiotic and racist. Let's just assume all African American men are bad fathers, and then let's assume that, instead of the police, explains why African Americans are being killed at such a scary rate.

(9,350 posts)First, Eric Garner Was a married father of about six kids. Second, the idea of the absent black father is largely a myth. Even though many black kid children are born outside of marriage many of those children actually have relationships with their fathers. Black fathers see their kids daily. Third, as far as I know, Michael Brown, Jordan Davis, Trayvon Martin, and Jamal Crawford all had relationships with their fathers.

(21,691 posts)Nice handwaving, asswipe, but "better fathers" isn't the problem. Police murdering people is.
Maybe if those cops had had better fathers, they wouldn't murder unarmed citizens.
(Rivera is the asswipe, not the awesome GearDaddy - just to be clear )
