Karl Rove: CIA waterboarding not torture because victims don’t totally drown with raised legs

“Take, for example, waterboarding,” Rove continued. “In waterboarding — unlike World War II, where the Japanese attempted to drown people by basically pouring water in their mouths — here the feet were elevated so there’s little or not chance of any fluid getting into the lungs. And very careful standards set in place so these would help break the the resistance of the detainee without placing their life in danger.”

Because that's what he's been to America since slithering onto the scene.

I normally never take delight in anyone's death as a matter of principle, but if I'm still around when this puss-filled boil on the anus of humanity finally expires I will gladly dance a jig.

A despicable, lying, cheating, enthusiastic kisser of aristocratic ass, fascist wanna-be...the fact that he's been so thoroughly successful and highly rewarded in this country indicates to me just how putrid, rotten and corrupted the dead soul of our society truly has become.

I see this country's leaders moving backwards towards the Middle Ages.
Didn't President Obama say, at the beginning of his term, that he wanted to move FORWARD?

Personally, I do not think that his decision not to prosecute those involved in these atrocities as moving forward. It is no way to seek justice to those who were harmed.

Had we have prosecuted those responsible for "enhanced interrogation" (aka torture) we could have then again move forward, with the insurance that nobody would commit these crimes, because if they would pursue these repugnant tactics, they would suffer consequences.

Letting these criminals go free, will not set us free. It only makes some of us think that we could get away with these horrendous measures, as well as measures far worse than these.

But I'm still a little unclear on how this isn't torture.

Since it's not, Karl, why don't you just hop on the board for a demonstration. We can televise it and you can show the whole country how waterboarding is harmless good fun.

The constipated looking Hannity could do it alongside him. HE claimed it is not torture, either and once said he would do it. Rove needs to take all three of his chins and disappear.

with that "USA! USA! USA!" mentality?

http://www.post-gazette.com/opinion/tony-norman/2009/05/26/Mancow-knows-Waterboarding-is-torture/stories/200905260184

From the article:

Last Friday, Mancow did what higher profile skeptics of the charge that the Bush administration engaged in torture don't have the courage to do. Where Fox News host Sean Hannity last month glibly agreed to be waterboarded ("I'll do it for charity&quot , Mancow actually underwent the procedure during the live broadcast of his popular morning show.

(snip)

Still, there was an undeniable logic to the stunt. Being waterboarded would be a ratings bonanza for "Mancow's Morning Madhouse." Once the footage of a torture skeptic "successfully" defying the critics of waterboarding made the rounds, it would elevate Mancow from the "D-list" of Howard Stern imitators to the first tier of conservative yakkers like Rush, Beck, Hannity and Michael Savage. A little water on the face could potentially yield big dividends.

But the real world closed in quickly once Mancow's legs were elevated, his feet tied and a towel pressed over his face. It was telling that he was already on the verge of freaking out even before a single drop was administered. Don't be surprised if some, including fraus on the right like Ann Coulter, question whether Mancow was brave enough to do it in the first place. Everyone agrees Mancow has more guts and conviction than Sean Hannity, though.

Alas, the hoped-for propaganda minute did not happen. Six seconds into the procedure, Mancow emerged gasping and spitting water. Instead of brave forbearance, Mancow Muller had the look of a man who had seen a terrible light.

"It was way worse than I thought it would be, and that's no joke," a badly shaken Mancow said. "It is such an odd feeling to have water poured down your nose with your head back. ... It was instantaneous ... and I don't want to say this: absolutely torture."

He lasted SIX seconds. With all his swagger and bravado and LOUDLY obnoxious in-yer-face pseudo-patriotism. He was almost shitting his pants before they even got started on him. I LOVE this part: "It was telling that he was already on the verge of freaking out even before a single drop was administered."

And to this day, has Mr. Red-White-&-Blue Bravado himself made good on his chest-thumping? Has that-guy-whose-name-rhymes-with-VANITY made good on his assertion that he, too, would undergo water boarding to prove it was a whole lotta nothing? He's nothing but a first-class chicken-shit. Talks a good game. Then folds like a piece of paper! Don't ever join the CIA, sean. You'll be giving up state secrets at the drop of a hankie.

As soon as he could burble a few words in reaction. It became abundantly clear to him. Guess you had to experience it to have your eyes opened, didn't you, asshole?

I think he's like most of 'em - up to a point, that is. It's EASY to strut and swagger and be smug about how it's not torture and it's just a little spritz of water in the face and what's the big deal. Until you walk in their shoes - or to be more accurate - you lay yourself down on their water-board. Which is where Mancow stops being like most of 'em. He did indeed actually have the guts to back it up. Said he'd try it and then did so. Unlike that chickenshit guy-whose-name-rhymes-with-Vanity, who loudly and smugly declared he'd do it "for charity" and then never did. Extra points to Mancow for submitting, and also for allowing his eyes to be opened about it. And actually recognizing it for what it IS: TORTURE.
