(198 posts)I think I love you!
From the article in The Guardian:
Hinton, who states in her Twitter biography that she is taking on big oil, big banks & other big bullies, has represented clients including Ecuadorian villagers in a long-running multibillion-dollar legal battle with Chevron, the energy corporation, over pollution of the Amazon rainforest.
Bravo to her for taking on America's biggest bullies, the gun manufacturers ( and indirectly, their mouthpiece, the NRA. )

(8,554 posts)Toy companies are held to stricter regulations than any gun manufacturer in this country. Hell, we don't even allow merry-go-rounds or teeter-totters on playgrounds anymore cause somebody might get hurt by them.
If this lawsuit only results in special requirements for possessing such high-powered firearms, at least that might slow down or deter the shooting fanatics who demand the right to play with them.
Just adding all of those candles to a post was chilling to me.

(4,033 posts)with my 21 year old nephew. We heard the news on the radio we were listening to MSNBC this was when Schultz had his noon show. When we got to our hotel we started watching the television news.
What my nephew noticed and we discussed, was how all the kids we saw that weekend with their parents, how close their parents kept the kids to them and so many parents were holding their kids either by the hand or often arm in arm.
It was a sad time and it still is.
