Speaking of the State of the Union address...

Would it be out of line to invite the congressional Democratic caucuses to the White House, conduct the State of the Union address in the East Room, videotape it, and send John Boehner and Mitch McConnell copies of it on Betamax cassettes?

Why not submit it as the majority of Presidents have, in writing, then read by the Sergeant of Arms? . . . Journeyman Dec 2014 #1

It would again place the emphasis where Thomas Jefferson believed it should be, on the text and not the spectacle. It would also, in this moment, symbolically establish that the President is above squabbling, while rejecting the ideal of an Imperial Presidency. I believe that would send a far greater, far more important message.

Why do you want POTUS to act like a low-class jerk? He just got kicked in the head by the American voters. Do you want his approval rating to sink even lower?

Sheeeeeeeeeesh.
