American Family Association Director: Jesus Christ Would Support the Use of Torture

Jesus Would Support The Use Of Torture
Submitted by Kyle Mantyla

The American Family Association's Bryan Fischer is continuing his defense of the CIA's use of torture, writing today that liberals "would drag the Bible’s heroes before the courts at Nuremberg and charge them with crimes against humanity" and suggesting on his radio program that Jesus would support the use of torture in a time of war.

Fischer argued on his radio program today that the Bible makes certain things permissible during times of war that would not be permissible during times of peace, adding that Jesus is a "warrior" who would probably approve of torture.

"Christianity is not a pacifist religion," Fischer said. "The God that we serve is described in Exodus 15 as a 'man of war.' Now we often think of gentle Jesus, meek and mild, but let's not forget, according to Romans 19:13, when he comes back ... he will be riding a white horse and wearing his own robe, dipped in blood. That is a robe that is worn by a warrior who is inflicting casualties on the foe. So this is gentle Jesus, meek and mild; when we comes back, his robe is going to be dipped in blood because he too is a warrior":

It's also painfully obvious that he's never read that book he waves in our faces like some sort of talisman against evil liberals.

That man looks exactly like what he is. I'm honestly surprised he's got a following.

wouldn't he. Not.

Coincidence. I am watching a science show about crucifixion. The only way that a man could be crucified and not die immediately or nearly immediately was by an X shaped cross. Imagine a giant X with a hand and arm nailed on each branch. You would last forever. Any death on a tree that was T shape killed you too fast. One position would actually tear off your legs because you would sag so much. The Chi-Rho symbol ... one of the earliest Christian symbols has crossed arms. Science now believes that the X arms were the original cross used to kill him.

Intriguing. Jesus would die if he heard this kind of crap. He told the disciples to not harm anyone when he was arrested. He went to his death without a fight. He would not agree with the shit house rat.

And somehow, there's probably a large part of the population that are fine with it.

Not being a learned man of "The Book"...when asked in the context of torture "What Would Jesus Do", I find it hard to believe there is any alternative to "...He wouldn't fucking do it!".

Sheesh. This whack-job sounds like he's right on the edge of promising virgins in heaven to those who wear the white robe dipped in blood. Where do these people come from.

I have said it before I will continue to repeat it.

This man and people who agree with him are the greatest threat facing America.

This man is bragging, actually bragging that his religious book promotes violence.

He is saying that the Deity he follows promotes violence, would lead the charge, and go on a killing rampage until he is covered in blood.

There is zero difference in religious fanatics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep reminding myself that it is almost 2015.

It seems we are rapidly regressing instead of continuing to evolve.

How very sad and dangerous for the world.

Couldn't find the words to reply on my own. This sums it up well for me:

Will Evangelicals Continue to Support Torture?

~Snip~

Jesus was arrested unjustly, promptly tried and convicted in a kangaroo court, and then tortured. He was savagely, sadistically beaten, his body ravaged. Jesus was tortured to death. Evangelicals believe their God bore as much suffering as it is possible for a human to bear, and he bore it at the hands of men in military gear who relished the cruelty.

Forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. Those are the words Jesus said of his torturers, and they are true of all torturers — they seem not to understand their actions, neither the damage they are doing to the victim, nor the damage they are doing to themselves, nor the damage they are doing to the country that is foolish enough to sanction such violence. They are also true of people who support torture, who believe it can save lives or protect a country. The majority of white evangelicals who support torture do not know what their support means for their own souls, much less the soul of their country.

I've been made to understand that if I don't explicitly ask Him to forgive my sins, His Father will torture me for all eternity in hell. A little torture of the living doesn't seem too bad in comparison.

those who do so will not be joining the eternal party even if they call him Lord and claim to be on the list. On the other hand, he says in the story, even people who never heard of him will be joining the party as recognized friends because they were kind to those in need, and treatment given to the least among is, he says, is treatment given to him. So those who fed the hungry, healed the sick, comforted the prisoners get the A list, those who did not do those things or did worse to the least among us gets destroyed. No matter how much they say they are sorry. Too late.
