I am posting this to make sure that I reach any DUer living in the OKC Metro Area. The Citizens didn't get even a full weeks notice of this Public Meeting and they are holding it right before Christmas (probably hoping that people won't notice it). A similar proposal failed strongly in 2011. It smacks like someone trying to pull a fast one over the people. This has the potential to negatively impact the water quality of one of our main water sources as well as causing additional earthquakes in a highly populated area (with potential damage to commercial and residential property). The company is small and you can believe that, if this goes through and there are any catastrophic events in the future, Pedestal Oil most likely won't have the resources to fix any problems. Furthermore, I would seriously question the City of OKC's deal making skills and ability to protect the people. People need to show up for this Public Hearing.
I will be there.

Oil Company Wants to Start Drilling South of Lake Hefner
OKLAHOMA CITY,Okla.- Pedestal Oil plans to present a proposal at a public meeting Thursday that will make oil drilling and fracking just south of Lake Hefner possible.
Yesterday we learned that there would be a public meeting Thursday night at the Will Rogers conservatory center addressing a proposal from pedestal company to drill just on the South side of Lake Hefner, Ed Shadid, councilman for Ward 2 says.
An email was sent to city officials ahead of the meeting. It proposes pedestal oil can lease land just south of the lake for oil and gas exploration.
ion and has concerns.
For the neighborhoods in ward two, its the sounds, the traffic, its damage to the area, its those, the thousands of people who use the trails in Lake Hefner, its any potential risk to the citys water supply, Shadid says.
The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 18th at 6 p.m., at the Will Rogers Conservatory, 3400 NW 36th Street in Oklahoma City.
