http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-11-21/hillary-clinton-says-she-won-t-run-again-for-elective-office.htmlHillary Clinton said today she wont run again for elective office, ruling out a future presidential bid.
I am very happy doing what Im doing and I am not in any way interested in or pursuing anything in elective office, the 63-year-old former First Lady said on the Fox News Sunday program.

"I've said I really dont believe that that's something I will do again," Clinton tells Barbara Walters in an early clip released from Walters's 10 Most Fascinating People special, set to air tonight. "I am so grateful I had the experience of doing it before. I think there are lots of ways to serve, so Ill continue to serve." As if that wasn't clear enough, there's one more denial:
I just want to see what else is out there. Ive been doing this incredibly important and satisfying work in Washington as I say for 20 years. I want to get out and spend some time looking at what else I can do to contribute.

I think Warren is no mood to run. That can change.

(10,718 posts)even with all the best intentions you age 5 years for every one spent in office, every word you speak must be carefully weighed for what it might do to the markets, international relations, or domestic media, any good result you gain is minimized by the lack of a perfect result, and basically everything is your fault whether you had anything to do with it or not.
If Clinton and Warren don't run, I hope there's another Obama in the waiting in the wings somewhere I haven't heard of yet, ready to take some serious abuse.

(10,044 posts)The attention and approval that Warren got for her Senate remarks the other night about big banks running the country, Citigroup, is what she mentioned, may have convinced Clinton that money is not enough to get elected.
You need votes, and lots of them...and you need people to work on your campaign, and Obama's people are committing themselves to Warren.
When people who don't watch CSpan or have a computer finally see what Warren is all about, Clinton doesn't have a chance, and she is probably starting to realize it. Warren also excels in public speaking.
Speaking of Citibank, Jerry Brown (CA) had to sue them to get money back wrongfully charged to Citigroup's customers... Wikipedia has the article.

(89,250 posts)these comments from Hillary came mostly while she was secretary of state in the obama administration and before the 2012 election when obama was going to run for re-election.
dreamnightwind
(4,775 posts)which is after the Obama re-election, and after she had told Obama she would not continue to be Sec of State. So it seems to me the point is an excellent one, it shows how her supporters use the "not running" twist to mean "will not run" in the Warren case but not in the Clinton case. Sure there are some differences, there always are, but it's an apt comparison IMO.

(11 posts)This thread is a bit misleading, you should have really put the date of these articles in the headline. A few months is a half-a-lifetime in politics, let alone a few years.
Not sure what you are wondering here? I think I noticed a Warren avatar, and if that is your angle here I wouldn't get your hopes up bud. Unfortunately Warren is peaking too early, and she really won't have a chance at a presidential bid ever. So you should really pull & work for her to get a VP spot in 2020, or 2024 if you are really a big supporter.

(12,389 posts)I will vote for her.
But I realize that many Dems don't like her, and think there is no difference between a Clinton and a Bush, and they will stay home on Election Day to show their disapproval.
Yeah, that'll show 'em.
