Long story short. I googled a subject and found a web page that substantiates a point I was trying to make. First time in my life I went to the site and the page concurred with my understanding of the subject. Cut and pasted the url into my post and carried on.
Unknown to me, the link I posted on DU was actually a known anti-semitic conspiracy theorist, identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti Defamation League as a hate group.
So the most popular and well received OP in my eleven years on DU was removed by a 5-2 jury decision.
A very hard learned lesson in do's and don'ts for posting on DU, as the jury decision carries the implication that I tried to surreptitiously slip in hate website links on DU, as if I was promoting and sanctioning what that hate website had to say.
So the next time I google to find a link to make a point, I'll be more careful before I post it on DU. And I share this with my DU mates because I want you all to avoid the unpleasant experience I had learning this lesson the hard way.

(63,912 posts)I'm glad you posted this. It helps clear the air for any here carrying ill feelings about you because of a mistake. And you needed to do that.
However, folks have to understand that the sun and moon of our existence don't revolve around DU. They just don't. DU is a great place for information and for establishing some ties with like minded individuals. It's wonderful that we have this spot on the Internet. But we have lives off the net and perspective is often needed.

(6,829 posts)Are you asking me to post the link to the anti-Semitic website that got me busted? Won't that get me in trouble again for the exact same reason as stated above?
Sorry, after getting busted I'm uncomfortable with electronically transmitting that link to anybody at DU ever again!
But I will tell you the subject; The business relationship between Salem Bin Laden and GW Bush in the early 80's.

bollyn (v.) - The act of noticing a strange car outside your house, assuming it's FBI, calling the police, having the people in the car tell you're they're just undercover local cops, not believing them, threatening them, telling them you're going into the house to get a weapon, getting arrested, losing your job, and then blaming it all on the Jews. Usage Note: Because of the low likelihood of anyone actually being stupid enough to do all these things, the word may be used in a looser sense to describe any attempt to blame a personal misfortune on some shadowy world-domination entity, when it was really your own stupid fault. "Example: All the 9/11 Denier candidates for Congress lost, so they'll probably try to bollyn the results off on Diebold."

(30,151 posts)His "AWESOME" OP was just another conspiracy laden heap of tripe where he had to link to an even bigger conspiracy mish-mash of bullshit webpage. The guy that runs that webpage is a certified loon (The Jeeeeswwws DID IT!)

#32: Christopher Bollyn
A.k.a. "The Truth Seeker"
As 9/11-troofers go, Christopher Bollyn is in at the deep end. A self-proclaimed independent American investigative journalist, Bollyn is for the most part a contributor to the despicable cesspool of lunacy whale.to, but many interesting articles can be found on his webpage. Among the gems are articles with enticing titles such as The Israeli Role in the Plundering of Iceland, How Ehud Barak Pulled Off 9-11, The Goldman Scam & John Paulson's Links to 9-11, The Gang of Czech Jews around the Collapses of 9-11 and The Jewish Secret Society That Controls the U.S. Media (I cannot be bothered to check out his explanation of why the US is involved in Afghanistan, but it is surely rewarding).
I guess the reader gets the idea. 9-11 was the product of a Zionist conspiracy (in particular organized by the Rothschild family) the Zionist conspiracy that controls the US government and media. They have also infiltrated the Senate, as shown by Bollyns razor-sharp and fearless investigations, e.g. Arlen Specter - The Elder of Zion in the U.S. Senate. Henry Kissinger is at the top of the conspiracy, and still a key player in the crimocracy as seen by the conspicuous fact that he was sent by the new Obama administration to meet with the leadership of Russia, although the nominal Secretary of State was Hillary Clinton. I guess you cant argue with evidence like that.
A tidbit: Christopher J. Petherick, a self-avowed Satanist, was the editor of American Free Press and the former Spotlight, publications of the Liberty Lobby of Washington, D.C. It makes no sense that a Satanist would be the chief editor of a newspaper that is purportedly written for patriotic Christian Americans, unless one understands that the Liberty Lobby is actually owned and controlled by a Zionist Jew named Mark Lane. The paper is a controlled opposition outlet that acts like flypaper to create a list of active patriots -- for the Jewish intelligence organization Lane works for.
Who is Petherick? Well, he is the newspaper editor who fired Bollyn back in the day. Of course he must be a Zionist why else would he try to shut up a honest and brave journalist like Bollyn? Apparently Petherick later organized an assault of Bollyn (using police officers who tasered him) to shut him up? It's a little unclear. And apparently the incident is related to the real reason for the war in Afghanistan. So it goes.

(101,320 posts)and, looking at the site, it's understandable that you thought the site was legit - it was about 9/11 theories, but any anti-semitism wasn't obvious at first glance. In cases like that, I'd rather someone posts in the thread pointing out what SPLC/ADL/etc. say, to give the poster a chance to edit or self-delete.

(26,622 posts)I have found interesting pieces, but have learned (the hard way) that the site was right wing. Now, I'm careful to explore the site beyond the article that caught my attention, but not before I spouted off and made a fool of myself.
I listen to Steph Miller almost every morning and one of her memes is "now a warning??" I've taken this to heart. Remember, there's a reason the right wing is winning the message war with their insane anti American message. It's very well disguised.
It's damn hard work to support the liberal agenda these days. Misinformation abounds.

Your post today speaks to a high level of maturity and integrity and I applaud you for it.
I would hope that you consider reposting your thread .... obviously with no links to hate sites (clearly, you are disturbed by your accidental link and I am teasing you).
As you can see many, many of us have accidentally linked to right wing sites .... sadly, this site surpassed right wing nuttery and was a full blown (and identified) hate site (I am sure this has happened to many of us, as well).
