http://thegrio.com/2014/12/15/receipt-nword-joke/Marquis Moore told The Patriot News that he was just about to enjoy his food from Zembies Sports Tavern in Harrisburg when he noticed the word n***a was written where his name was supposed to be.
According to Zembies owner Angelo Karagiannis, this is all just a misunderstanding and the word was meant as a light-hearted joke. He claims bartender Megan Bonsall says Moore was busy talking to people at the bar, and so she asked a friend for his name. That friend then allegedly showed Moores Facebook page to Bosnall, where he described himself as a sexy n***a.
She said that she wrote down n***a on the ticket as a way to be playful. But Moore isnt buying that explanation. He suspects the bartender had searched the comments on his Facebook page looking for an excuse after she was caught. Even if that is the case, why didnt she put sexy n***a on the check? Moore pointed out.
Playful?!

Not funny, and not harmless.

(31,849 posts)You can call your sister/cousin/friends all kinds of things ... and split the lip of others using the same words.
Just saying ....

(65,391 posts)use some form of that word. How about we just never use any form of that word? Then we can be sure we are not using it "inappropriately"--since there really is no appropriate way for a white person to sling around that word or any of its permutations.

(65,391 posts)because she saw it on his Facebook page (probably after the fact) and to all others who are convinced that if black people use a version of the word in friendly conversation, then everyone, of any race, has a right to use it in friendly conversation. I think no one who is not black should use any version of that word.

(30,151 posts)for them to say the N word-
Because that is what people are doing. Say on tv some old white lady literally says "The N Word" and all that is doing is making ME think, oh she means "n****r" so now I am the one saying the damn word in MY head!
People need to take responsibility for what they say and just say it instead of putting it on others!

(4,517 posts)this is for real? I mean the last few incidence of something being written on dining/bar receipts or coffee cups have turned out to be exactly the opposite of what they seemed.

(53,959 posts)I was a regular at a bar and started a tab with a new bartender. He hadn't been there long. Other bartender, who knew me well, saw the ticket and thought it was funny and told me about it. I asked the 'offending' bartender let me see the tab. I guess, to his credit, he did try to obscure the word "FAG" with his finger. He never forgot my name again.
