(15,512 posts)And we'll hear it repeated for weeks if not months to follow. Here's my favorite example of Democracy Not in action, wherein Brother Jeremy explains why Obama is worse than Bush, Cheney, Romney, and McCain all in one paragraph. I underlined the 4 names so you won't miss them:
So, you know, I think that becausebecause its a popular Democratic president, I think people have been convinced that things have really radically shifted, and in reality, they havent.
And I think a lot of the Bush people stand in awe of what President Obama has been able to do, because they know that they probably wouldnt have been able to get it done themselves.
So, you know, there are ways in which Obama pushed the Cheney agenda far beyond what a President McCain or a President Romney would have been able to do, because he had his base of supporters.

(20,317 posts)well beyond what it was under the Bush Administration. Perhaps he's thinking of Obama's insistence that he can order the killing of Americans overseas via drones, but it could be a number of points that went beyond what the Bush Administration actively sold.
Do you have any actual examples of dishonesty on the part of Democracy Now? Should be easy since, as you say, they are dishonest 'very often'.
Before you post more things like that, remember-- just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's dishonest.

(15,512 posts)About the worst was some sketchy USAID reporting at the start that left the distinct impression that Obama had a hand in it, or at least, didn't make clear distinctions between this and former admins. That's one of their usual tricks. I'll look at the transcript when it comes out and see if I'm right.
Anyway now Amy is rattling her tin cup again which is probably the most annoying thing about the show come to think of it. Yeah I get it but sheesh it's half the show every time I tune in, at least on KPFK.
deutsey
(20,166 posts)I thought it was a pretty good show, as it often is (although it can certainly have its misses).
The fund-drive at KPFK and KPFA (and I assume other Pacifica stations) is for helping to make up for Pacifica losing funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. It may get it back in a few months, but Pacifica stations are struggling to stay afloat in the meantime, apparently.
ucrdem
(15,512 posts)Yeah I sometimes read the transcripts, thanks for the link. The show itself annoys the hell out of me so I usually only listen to it in the car. Watching an entire show or even a segment online is typically about as thrilling as dental work.

Amazing.
There is a vast difference between an OP that states "DemocracyNow reported on X today and I disagree with their reporting because..." and numerous OP's ridiculing and bashing anything liberal or progressive consistently on this website.
We have posters that do exactly that. I don't get it.

We welcome you all to Democracy Now! Lets begin in Havana with Peter Kornbluh. Your response to this historic announcement by President Obama in Washington, D.C., and President Raúl Castro in Havana, Cuba, where you are right now, Peter?
PETER KORNBLUH: Well, I have a one-word response, Amy: finally. Finally, after 55 years, an element of sanity and effectiveness and modernization have arrived to the insane U.S. policy that U.S. presidents have been pursuing towards Cuba for all these years, all these decades.
As you can see from looking at me, the sun is coming up here over Havana Bay. And, you know, I really have a sense, and I think the Cubans that Ive talked to here in the street have a sense, of a new day, a new dawn, a new beginning, as President Obama himself has said, in U.S.-Cuban relations. And, you know, there really is a sense of excitement here about the future. My taxi driver, who just brought me down to the studio to be with you, said that the taxi chauffeurs are already talking about when theyre going to be able to get a Ford van for taxis, so they can carry more people around. So, you know, expectations are high that a change of relations with the United States is going to lead to development here. He says, "You know, weve had a lot of politics, but you cant eat politics." And then, Cubans are looking at the economy and hoping that really a change in relations with the United States portends a much better development future for Cubas economy and for the future of this country.

(7,830 posts)We look at the details of the new normalized relations between the United States and Cuba, which include an easing of restrictions on banking, investment and travel, and discuss whether President Obama can lift the embargo on Cuba without congressional approval. We speak with Robert Muse, an expert on U.S. laws relating to Cuba and attorney based in Washington, D.C. His recent article published in Americas Quarterly is "U.S. Presidential Action on Cuba: The New Normalization?" We also speak with Michael Ratner about what will happen to the U.S. military prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Joining the discussion live from Havana is Peter Kornbluh, director of the Cuba Documentation Project at the National Security Archive at George Washington University.
