Announcements like this are meant to keep the announcer in the news. Now, why would she want to stay in the news...

Rand is the most disgusting of the recent baggers. Only Cruz is worse. Both are a disgrace.

I think the Dems still hold the majority in the house, though.
I think Alison is looking for Paul to give up his Senate seat so she can be appointed to fill it.

She's an epic failure as a candidate. Let her go.

(3,056 posts)I am so tired of Democrats running as "Republican Lite" instead of as Democrats, and that's exactly what she and so many others did this past cycle. She should have handed McConnell his butt...there were SO many ways she could have handled that "Did you vote for Obama" question instead of the mealy-mouthed, evasive way she did, and that's when the wheels came off in her campaign. I'm sure the coal barons in Kentucky will be able to happily continue screwing over their miners.
This country is well on its way to being a "Corporatocracy" and the Democrats are doing nothing to even try to slow it down. The power brokers in the party are starting their demonization of Elizabeth Warren, and I expect that to get real ugly in the next couple of years. Schools can't afford to buy textbooks for all our students, or hire enough teachers to bring class sizes down to a manageable level, but by God, BOTH sides of the political aisle made sure that banks can screw us again with complete impunity, and the oil industry still gets obscene tax breaks and subsidies.
I live in Nevada, and look forward to the day that Harry Reid finally retires. As far as I'm concerned, he's responsible for most of Obama's problems.

(3,891 posts)If he runs for President, and IF he manages to win the nomination. Then having him on the ballot twice means that Kentucky is in play for Democrats. Because people would be inclined to vote against him, twice. So by making him choose one or the other, it really does take Kentucky out of play for Democrats regarding the Senate, further reducing our chances of taking the Senate back.
Or he resigns from the Senate, throws his endorsement to another, and wins the nomination to the Presidency, and narrowly defeats Hillary on election day. Republicans hold the Senate, win the White House, and Lundergan Grimes goes down in history as the damned fool that took the Democrats chances at a Senate seat and flushed them down the toilet.

(17,379 posts)States can't impose their own eligibility criteria outside of what is in the Constitution, on federal candidates. There is no problem with applying the law to non-federal candidates. This is why state imposed term limits were invalidated in the 90s.
That being said, it would delight me to no end to see Mr State's Rights march into federal court and demand the Feds overturn a longstanding Kentucky law.

(149 posts)and Breshear vetoes the legislation if it comes to pass.
The Republicans doesn't deserve to get what they want. If Paul wants to run for President, he needs to resign or declare himself ineligible for Senate.
He can't have it both ways.
Lieberman did it, and he's an idiot for it.
