Michele Bachmann Says She 'Defeated' Progressives By Outsmarting Them
Submitted by Brian Tashman on Thursday, 12/18/2014 12:15 pm
Rep. Michele Bachmann told the far-right outlet WorldNetDaily in an interview published today that while she is leaving Congress, she is most proud of her work opposing Obamacare, the Dodd-Frank financial industry reform, the 2009 stimulus, auto industry bailouts and TARP. Although all of those measures passed, Bachmann offered her wisdom to conservatives on how she is able to defeat liberal policies time and time again. Bachmann said she uses evidence-based arguments against liberals who are only able to argue from emotionalism, they dont argue from a logical, linear point of view, and I take them on at their false premises. Thats the best way to defeat them, by the way. Defeat them with evidence and defeat them with their false premises and I did that, she said, adding that she was able do this despite the constant criticism she received. The Associated Press, whose chief fact checker said his job required a self-imposed Michele Bachmann quota because she made so many false claims, and Politifact, which found that Bachmann had by far worst record of any 2012 presidential candidate when it comes to making accurate statements, must have missed Bachmanns many evidence-based arguments.

Somewhere along the way, Internet nerd chat room Wikipedia became the keeper of Official American History, meaning that American History is now apparently just whatever Americans with Internet access and free time want it to be. Now that Michele Bachmann has mauled a few historical facts like any good Tea Party Patriot mauls the spelling on a protest sign, some of her faithful groupies have been trying to change Wikipedia pages to make the birthplace of movie actor John Wayne into a place where serial killer John Wayne Gacy once lived and to change John Quincy Adams to a founding father. See how easy it has become prove to everybody wrong now? We still remember the olden days when right-wing fanatics were forced to write whole strenuous textbooks about things like why dinosaurs are not real and how heaven starts right after Pluto.
Probably her followers do not want Micheles feelings hurt if she goes to fact-check herself on Wikipedia, but then again, see what we just wrote there? There is no point to this, other than to be laughed at. Or possibly Bachmann supporters just wanted to prove that THEY TOO can change American history in the only way they are smart enough to do, which is retroactively, just like Sarah Palins drone army tried to fix the Paul Revere page.
From RawStory:
Bachmann, who officially launched her campaign yesterday in Waterloo, Iowa, told a Fox News reporter that she was proud to be in the town where John Wayne was from, because she embodies his ideals. Unfortunately for her, it turns out that the actor John Wayne was not from Waterloo, but serial killer John Wayne Gacy was.
Shortly after the gaffe, the Wikipedia page for actor John Wayne was altered to change his birthplace from Winterset, Iowa to Waterloo, apparently as an effort to cover for the misguided politician.
Another edit came after she declared Tuesday morning that the nations sixth president, John Quincy Adams, was a founding father, even though he was just a child when his father, the nations second president, signed the Declaration of Independence.

(27,461 posts)It was hard to tell if she was addressing God or the only other person in the room.
Or, perhaps, it was a supplication to those in the painting, the kneeling Founding Fathers in Harris Tompkins Matthesons The First Prayer in Congress, September 1774.
She was gently reminded how even Washington had to make a strategic retreat during the Revolutionary War, many times. She kept staring into the distance, silently.
